T, S. Eliot Prufrock and Burnt Norton
T S Eliot Reading The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock In the room the women come and go Talking of Michelangelo
From Burnt Norton Garlic and sapphires in the mud Clot the bedded axle-tree
I remember the first time I read the Quartets. Early on I said to myself, "This isn't going to work. He is getting too conceptual and leaving behind the individuals and the particulars that make poetry work." But Eliot made it work by weaving concepts and particulars together into an organic whole. He wrote some great poetry. But I'll always prefer 'Cats' among everything he did. Maybe because of all the times I've realized that some cat I see is meditating on his ineffable name.
This makes you awesome. Love the Four Quartets.
