Do You Mind If I don’t Smoke?

.
They have a lefty sensibility. Their slogan is ’No Labels’ but their actions say, “No label use for you. God sent me to use labels like ‘uncivil,’ ‘harsh partisan’ and ‘hyper-partisanship’ to put my enemies in their place.” They are rather easy targets.

I found it interested that they could not agree about Obama’s position on when we are leaving Afghanistan. Booker and Mitchell are convinced that there is a final and absolute date in 2014. Scarborough feels sure that the president is a little flexible on this question. I’m pretty sure that Scarborough is right. Obama’s position is much like the great Captain Spaulding.

UC Physics Professor Calls Global Warming a Scam

From National Review, Harold Lewis, Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara said of the global warming scam: “The money flood has become the raison d’etre of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs,” he wrote in a letter to APS president Curtis G. Callan Jr. of Princeton University. Lewis continued: “It is, of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist.”
He said the APS’s methods of closing down debate on climate change were a ‘corruption’ of its purpose.

Where Is the Love For President?

This clip is funny. I never thought Mika Brzezinski could seriously compete in The Most Stupid Woman in Cable News Contest and lose. But here is Leslie Stahl giving Mika some serious competition. Mika just sees Obama as a great leader but Stahl sees the light of Chicago as the great and healing doctor who saved the economy and now faces an amazingly ungrateful populous. There is enough stupid here to supply the Democratic Party with plenty of denial regardless of the depths of any electoral defeat.

Christine O'Donnell on What To Tell Kids About Sex

The lefty position seems to be that everybody is going to do it no matter what. That and that O'Donnell is weird. Which are both rather weird overreactions.

Doctor Zero: Once Again All Net

A thing of beauty over at Hot Air.com as Doctor Zero sums up what is wrong in Washington. Only reading the whole thing does it justice. It is short and to the point in a marvelous feat to focus and clarity. I will give two excerpts but do not deny yourself the pleasure of the whole thing.

"Political control is what’s killing us. It is expressed in hundreds of ways: high tax rates with carefully tailored exceptions, massive bailouts, laws rigged to favor government-controlled industries, restrictions on resource development, and a vast poppy field of subsidies and penalties. The Democrats have added thousands of pages of fabulously expensive legislation since Obama took office. Two messages echo through those pages: Obey and be rewarded. Resist and be punished.

"This is not appropriate behavior for a government that was meant to live in awe of the people’s boundless freedom, and work carefully with limited powers to accomplish its sworn duties. Even the most apolitical citizen can now see that it’s also disastrous behavior.

"Who are the President and his congressional allies, to lecture us on what products to buy, or investments to make? Who are they to demand even more of our wealth to fund their next round of grand designs? Their failure is obvious and complete. I don’t believe any group of brilliant central planners can legislate prosperity… but if such a group exists, it sure as hell isn’t this bunch."
**************************

"Economic strength comes from innovation, which is produced by intense pressure. Businesses seek creative ways to increase their revenue, and transcend the burden of their expenses. The super-State feels no such pressures, so it does not innovate. It believes it can siphon limitless revenue from its subjects, and defer the cost of its failures forever… so it spends extravagantly, and continues wasteful programs until the voters force it to stop, by holding sharpened ballots to its throat. Only rarely can the voters muster that level of pressure.

"No group of people can ever force itself to prosper. Substituting the limited vision of a few, for the innovation and risk-taking of many, will always impose a steep price. We speak approvingly of “thinking outside the box.” Washington makes boxes."

Doc Zero Knows from Volt

Below, from Hot Air.com are two quotes from Doctor Zero's post today on the Volt.

"Obama is lying through his teeth when he refers to the GM bailout as an “investment”  Politicians love to throw that word around, because they think it makes them sound like savvy businessmen.  Investments are voluntaryacts, conducted with the expectation of return.  You were compelled to pay for the development of the Volt, and unless you’re one of the tiny percentage of the public who purchase one, you will receive nothing in return for these payments.  You paid to preserve the jobs of rich and powerful labor unions, and provide a handsome discount to the few buyers who find the emotional satisfaction of saluting Green dogma to be worth $33,500.  Virtually no onewould be willing to pay the true price of $81,000 for that satisfaction.
"Subsidies and mandates based on ideology hopelessly distort the value of products, confusing the marketplace in the same manner as consumer fraud and theft.  It’s as if car dealers were in the practice of routinely stealing automobiles from other states, and reselling them at steep discounts.  The ability of the consumer to assess value and make rational purchases, expressing their demands and allowing the distributed intelligence of the markets to allocate resources efficiently in response, is destroyed."
……………………………..
". . . The government didn’t subsidize this boondoggle.  The “government” doesn’t subsidize anything.  You do.

STEWART TO OBAMA: YOU LIE!

So most liberals require 18 months of a war they never liked, continued assaults on basic civil rights and a few million barrels of oil to take their heads out of the sand.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Immigration Nostrums

.

h/t: NewsBusters

When the Simpson-Mazzoli Act of 1986 gave amnesty and citizenship to many who had entered the US illegally and had worked here illegally it was argued that passing such a law would only cause much more illegal immigration. There have since been tens of millions who have entered the country illegally. When foreigners see that our government has lost respect for our laws, many feel that there is no reason for them to treat the law with any respect. Villaraigosa's inability to see one of the major lessons of Simpson-Mazzoli can only mean that he does not mind if he provides motivation and encouragement for tens of millions more crossing our border illegally. And quite possibly he is more concerned with increasing the ranks of the Democrat Party rather than what is best for all Americans. Thankfully the majority of Americans do not agree with this divisive and overly partisan mayor.

The Beeb on the Election of Scott Brown

**********************************************
To find out what is going on they ask Howard Dean. Dean's analysis: Obama lost because he is not liberal enough. The newsreader/commentator seems inclined to feel that this loss will be seen as just a blip in a successful presidency. Dean remains impressed by Obama's intelligence. The Beeb once was worth seeking out and watching. But what's the point if they are just going to parrot our old, dying media?

Obama's the Name and National Security Is NOT My Game

The Obama administration's complete and total incompetence in the area of national security is only beginning to come into focus. This has not been covered by the old media. This latest tale of stupidity is astonishing. I became aware of this from a great post at And So It Goes in Shreveport. I was pointed to the post at ASIGS and the one I quote from below from WOLF HOWLING by Pundit and Pundette.
The three paragraphs below are all taken complete and directly from WOLF HOWLING.

"Our Moralizer In Chief has utterly neutered our ability to gain timely and actionable intelligence from a group of people that would happily ignite atomic weapons in every city in our country, and the administration is galled because they are getting critized by Republicans? The Obama administration has their priorities completely skewed.
"To restate the revelations from the NewsWeek article, this is the position in which Obama has placed our national security: For the past year and until some unknown point in the future, as to al Qaeda leaders captured overseas, we do not have a group in place that can interrogate them. For al Qaeda leaders captured in the U.S., it is Obama's policy that they would go into the criminal justice system. For a person associated with al Qaeda who very likely has actionable intelligence, it is Obama's policy that they get a lawyer and a pass into our criminal justice system. This is so wholly screwed. It is apparent that, other than Obama's grandstanding and his many rhetorical efforts to establish himself as our Moralizer in Chief on this critical issue of national security, he has ignored the substance of it."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"Just unbelievable. If heads don't roll for this level of ineptitude, we can rest assured that heads will roll in the future - the heads of those people who have placed their trust in the Obama to protect our nation. Soaring rhetoric will stop neither bullets or blast waves. Nor will Obama's moralizing be sufficient to keep a crippled jet in the sky. It seems inevitable that American blood will be spilled as a direct result of an Obama national security apparatus not merely in disaray, but Three Stooges-esque in its degree of incompetence."

Copenhagen: Armed Guards Used to Silence Questions About Climategate

*********************************************

h/t: Big Government

A more and more common argument in favor of man made global warming: 'Shut up or I'll set the thugs on you." We now have green brown shirts. Not exactly the response of people that feel they can prevail in a free and honest discussion.
