The Nightmare That Is Senator Franken

Ed Schultz, Markos and Bill Press (as MSNBC thumbs its nose at any thought of balance) discuss why the Democrats in DC are now obligated to give them everything they have ever wanted. They are already predicting that the Dems won't deliver as ordered because of their craven nature. There was not a word about political realities. It was nonstop: "This is what we want and it's your job to give it to us. And you're no good if you don't fulfill our every wish." Three children on the verge of a tantrum.

The Soros - Franken - U. N. Connection

The American Thinker says that George Soros was especially interested in removing Norm Coleman from the senate. They feel that it was related to Coleman’s successful investigation of corruption at the U.N. Also, by attacking a Soros friend at the U.N., Coleman jeopardized channels that Soros maintains to secure inside info about international banking and foreign governments that make currency speculation especially profitable. Soros was also involved in the election of a Democrat as Minnesota Secretary of State that helped Franken’s perversion of the recount. A relevant passage from the American Thinker piece:
"Norm Coleman was the chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and as such took a leading role in uncovering and investigating the United Nations oil-for-food scandal.  Coleman was the leader in the Senate when it came to scrutinizing the operations of the United Nations; he appeared frequently in the media. The United Nations had never before come under such public criticism in the Senate. The mandarins and their fellow travelers were made very uncomfortable by the work of Senator Coleman.
They do not forget their adversaries.
This scandal involved not just negligence of the UN officials that set up and monitored the program (which immeasurably helped keep Saddam Hussein in power and, in a sense, helped create the conditions for the invasion of Iraq),  but also involved corruption that reached the highest levels at the United Nations.
Coleman was dogged in his pursuit of the wrongdoers at the UN. The investigation tarnished the image of Mark Malloch Brown (UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's deputy and right-hand man at the UN) who was seen as spinning away any culpability of Annan and the UN itself in this travesty of a program. Coleman thereby clearly earned the wrath of George Soros, for the ties between Brown and Soros are tight and seemingly mutually beneficial."

Funny Count

There is something funny going on in the recount in Minnesota. When a ballot has been damaged in some way election officials are instructed to make a copy of it and mark the copy as being a copy. Apparently some were not so marked and both original and copy were counted. The Wall Street Journal says, "more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes."
This is becoming a hallmark of Democrat election victories: more ballots than voters with Democrat controlled election officials.

Why Franken Is So Optimistic About the Recount

"A woman who worked for Al Franken earlier this week during the Senate recount in one county ended up counting ballots as a nonpartisan volunteer here Saturday in a recount that grew heated at times.
"Maggie Vertin, who spent two days in Fergus Falls for Otter Tail County’s recount as an observer for Franken, was one of eight volunteers who assisted with the Wilkin County effort in Breckenridge. Bob Westfall, who was in Breckenridge on Saturday as an observer for Norm Coleman, said he had concerns when members of his team learned a ballot counter had worked for Franken."


The maintenance of a system of government such as devised by our founding fathers requires basic levels of decency and honesty that are becoming less common.

Random Thoughts After the Fall

It is over. The curtain has come down on politics 2008. For the past few months I’ve spent two or three hours a day wandering around the net to find information about the election. I now feel empty. I don’t want to continue to spend that much time on politics. So there is a void in my life. What should I do with the time? My first thought was to read a massive 19th century novel. War and Peace, maybe. But I’m now considering Dostoyevsky’s The Possessed after first doing a recent historical novel called Pilate’s Wife.

The L A Times says 82% voted in L. A. County. Wow, do I ever find that impossible to believe. I think you need two outside sources to confirm anything the Times says.

I was happy to see that Al Franken lost. I was thinking that he would just make the senate look like a bunch of moronic clowns. But today I realize that I’ve thought for years that they are a bunch of moronic clowns. Moronic, bribe taking, selfish, greedy, dishonest, sell out clowns. But most Americans think little about them. Maybe a Franken victory would be good if it got people to pay attention to the thieving, clownish crimes going on in Washington.
