What Election?

Boehner appears to have already forgotten the recent election. I wonder if all his years in Washington haven’t made him too much a creature of Washington for him to be able to fix the place. They most all seem to get transformed so that they end up having more loyalty to anything governmental or any member of the bureaucracy than to any higher principles or their fellow citizens. The man definitely needs to be watched closely.

Congressional Hubris

There is no honor among thieves.
Rangel lied and stole until Hell wouldn't haven't anymore. It was so bad that Pelosi's ethics committee couldn't even ignore it. The Democrats' solution? Stand up on the House floor and tell him he broke the rules and then give him a standing ovation. Gee, that would be very helpful if Rangel breaking the rules were not already common knowledge.
But I guess every member of congress is hoping they'll also get a pass and a standing O when they get caught.

Pelosi's New Office: It's One Third Larger but Inexplicably Costs Four Times As Much as the Old Office

"Actually, all she got was a one-third increase in floor space.  Pelosi accepted a 300% increase in rent for 33% more space.  That certainly fits with a Democratic Congress that has increased annual federal spending by 33% in three years while providing worse service and running up massive amounts of debt.
"Her office also claims that the new building will save on energy costs.  In other words, because of the building’s “green” profile, it will use about half the amount of energy as the old building.  So taxpayers will pay four times as  much in rent in order to save half off the electrical bill.  That also sounds like the kind of economics that Democrats have used since assuming power in 2007."

'The Most Ethical Congress Ever' Still Treats Rangel with Great Respect

Asking Questions, Expressing An Opinion on How My Congressman Votes and Disagreeing With the Washington Elite Has Become Hating the Government????

Drudge linked a piece from the Washington Examiner by Chris Stirewalt titled 'Hating the Government Finally Goes Mainstream.' Here is a long quote that has some insight into the past two years:
"It turns out that watching Goldman Sachs, the United Auto Workers, public employee unions and a raft of other vampires drain the treasury at America's weakest moment in a generation will make a person pretty hacked off.
"After Barack Obama's election, Democrats assumed that the American people were battered, bruised and ready for a morphine drip of European-style socialism. Republicans, shocked by their stunning reversals, figured the Democrats were right and started looking for technocrats of their own.
"And in a political system fueled by special-interest money, it was hard for the leaders of major parties to imagine anything other than an activist government. After all, if you pay for someone to get elected, you don't expect him to just sit there.
Just 18 months ago the leaders of both parties were quite sure that Obama would be the popular, transformative president he aspires to be. The Republicans who emerged from the wreckage of November were certain to look a lot more like Charlie Crist and Mitt Romney than Marco Rubio and Ron Paul.
"But Crist's embrace of Obamanomics seems to have utterly destroyed his chances at a Senate seat that was once his for the taking. Romney, considered a near lock for the 2012 Republican nomination, has seen his candidacy badly damaged by a populist revolt against the passage of a national health care plan that looks like the one he designed for Massachusetts.
"Obama, who said that passage of his health plan proved that Washington could still do big things, finds himself deeply at odds with an electorate that is not confident of government's ability to do anything at all.
"His election has turned out to be not the result of a national lurch toward government intervention but his own skill at disguising his policies, the failures of the Republican Party and the bursting of the lending bubble."

The piece makes a lot of sense but the headline seems a little out of place. It makes a gratuitous leap that equates having a different point of view from those presently in Congress the same as hating the government. This is just sloppy thinking and a sneaky below the belt punch. Just because I don't think that government operates best by bribery, secrecy and legislative trickery does not mean I hate government. I do not like the crimes and manipulations of the gang of clowns that are presently in office. I think government should never be trusted. It is just a collection of flawed men and women who need to be watched. And if you cannot see the wisdom of that I do not think that I am the problem.

"Other Forms of Communication Work Better for Him": I've Never Seen Kickbacks and Bribes Called 'Communication' Before

I've never seen offering a job to a candidate to open up an election for one of your friends called 'a form of communication' before. This must be what is referred to since he's not convincing anyone by any other means that I can see. No matter what he says or does his approval has kept sliding. And his policies are getting more and more unpopular with the voters. But he is a master at throwing around government resources and favors the Chicago way and getting doubters to vote with him in the Congress and the Senate. Truly, we have a brave new world in Washington and in the MSM.

Did Pelosi Have to Spend $1000 a Week on Fancy Alcohol to Get Health Care Almost Done??

This is from a WND story about revelations from Judicial Watch. Why does Speaker Pelosi spend so much on entertaining at tax payer expense? We have a head of state and a State Department that already spend lavishly on that. This is not part of her job description. It is an abuse of her power and position.
But maybe, in the culture of Wahington, DC, that is how much booze is requited to get lawmakers to almost pass a health care bill that the tax payers (and booze buyers) hate. But why should I have to chip in to pay for Nancy's partisan game playing? The insurance companies like her health care bill so much that they spent a lot on Martha Coakley's election. Maybe the insurance companies should give Nancy some financial help in getting over on the electorate. I know that would be unethical and maybe illegal. But does Nancy have to worry about Holder's DOJ or the House Ethics Committee? I don't think so now that Chicago is spreading around the Potomac.

I have gotten so used to seeing Matthews playing the fool that I nearly forget that he really is intelligent and knowledgeable beneath the wacky exterior. Debating with an idgit will generally make one look more intelligent. If he could limit his guests mostly to egomanical Democrat backbenchers and far left loons, Matthews might be able to polish his reputation.

Nancy does not want anyone questioning her about this. All he wants from the tax payers is that they shut up and fork over as much of their grocery money as necessary to keep her massive entourage around her. Do I sound bitter? I've decided that painfully realistic is more accurate.
