Michelle O. and David Axelrod Set Up A Patient Dumping Scheme in Chicago and Now We Might Give this Gang Power Over All Health Care?
The poor people of Michelle Obama's hospital's neighborhood learned by bitter experience that they would be pushed off into a waiting room without even being registered into the system. The Chicago style lesson: if you want to be shuffled off into an uncomfortable chair in cold room and wait way too long for care come to Michelle's hospital but if you actually want medical care go somewhere else. Is there any reason to believe that Barack Obama will do any more to help the sick than his wife and his campaign chairman did?

Barack the Dream Catcher
Julie Warner wrote a column in the NYT about people’s dreams, day dreams and fantasies about the Obamas. It is sad, funny and weird. A few quotes:
“The other day a friend of mine confided that in the weeks leading up to the election, the Obamas’ apparent joy as a couple had made her just miserable. Their marriage looked so much happier than hers. Their life seemed so perfect. “I was at a place where I was tempted daily to throttle my husband,” she said. “This coincided with Michelle saying the most beautiful things about Barack. Each time I heard her speak about him I got tears in my eyes — because I felt so far away from that kind of bliss in my own life and perhaps even more, because I was so moved by her expressions of devotion to him. And unlike previous presidential couples, they are our age, have children the same age and (just imagine the stress of daily life on the campaign) by all accounts should have been fighting even more than we were.”

“A lot of people share the fantasy that having the Obamas over for “dinner and a game of Scrabble,” as one daydreamer put it to me, is something that really could just about happen.

“This is the first president I’ve known who looks, talks and acts like a peer,” is how one Washington man explained it to me. “Notwithstanding his somewhat exotic life story, I feel like I understand what he’s like and where he’s coming from. And despite his incredible achievements, he still seems like a lot of people I know”

“For some, not knowing the Obamas has almost turned into a feeling of being snubbed or excluded. Like in middle school. It’s funny. Almost.
““Why won’t my kids be sleeping over at the White House? And as my daughter noted, why couldn’t she get to sit front and center and see the Jonas Brothers and Miley perform at the kids’ inaugural concert? If she went to Sidwell, then she might have these chances, she said …” wrote a mother whose kids are not at Sidwell Friends school with Sasha and Malia.
““Will Michelle stay down to earth? She could prove it by joining our book club,” wrote a Sidwell mom.
“This is, perhaps, the price of faux-familiarity. If I were Barack Obama (or Michelle, for that matter), I’d be a little scared. After all, when people are wearing their egos on their sleeves, it’s so easy to bruise their feelings. What will happen if fantasy turns to contempt? “
But these people don’t even know anything about the Obamas! The dinosaur media have thrown a protective wall around Barack and Michelle. These media have suppressed general knowledge about the Obamas to some of his spoken word and endless reports that he’s wonderful and most that people find him wonderful and inspiring. But this ignorance is the engine of all the fantasizing. The media created void can easily be filled by hopes, goals, fears and all the stray psychological creatures that yammer and whisper in the back of our heads. All of these emotion laden mental critters that dwell on the border between the conscious and the subconscious naturally attach themselves to the empty space that is the Obama persona.
And herein lies a great danger of making knowledge contraband. Right now the Obamas are the recipients of mainly positive stuff from feeling land. But at the same time they are forging a strong link to Americans’ emotions. And to the amazement of Barack, Michele and the dinosaurs there could be an instantaneous and wide spread reversal into the negative. And this will happen to some people who have convinced themselves that they are intelligent and in control. When that happens they will be angry and feel lost.
Among the reader comments I found an excellent one by a JMB. I’m going to close by reproducing it in full.
Thank goodness I skipped the fantasy stage and went straight to contempt , oh, sometime back in 2007 when I was about 80 pages into the carefully packaged story line of “Dreams from My Father.” The man is a phony, through and through. Just about every word he speaks is hollow.
Take, for example, the quotation from the inaugural speech that my 7-year-old had to “put in your own words” last week, and which I’ve consequently had baked into my brain: “The challenges we face are real. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met. ”
Nothing but passive voice. Nothing but euphemism, verbosity (”short span of time” instead of “quickly” or “soon”), vagueness and one big, empty and meaningless promise. *Who* will meet these challenges? When? By what means? What challenges are we talking about, anyway? The economy? Iraq? Terrorism? Global warming? The war on all classes below hedge-fund manager?
*I* put the quote into *my* own words, as this: “I want you to have faith right now that someone, sometime will eventually fix all the nation’s problems. Don’t expect anything quickly, and please don’t let yourself be troubled by any initial actions of mine that might suggest I’m just as much in the pocket of multinational corporations as my predecessor was. Don’t worry. Be happy.”
Needless to say, reading this blog lately has been about as appetizing as a box of melted Pepto Bismol truffles. But it makes me feel blessed not to have been blinded, and I’m curious as to when Ms. Warner and her Obama-girl crowd are finally going to wake up.

How Stupid Are You? Are You Dumb Enough To Not BELIEVE In Evolution?

MS. CHEN: During Maggie's exclusive interview with Michelle Obama yesterday, we learned how tough it is on the campaign trail, as well as where she stands on some of the issues. This morning Mrs. Obama gives us a personal look into her marriage to Barack Obama, life at home with their two daughters, and the future.

MS. RODRIGUEZ: Finish this sentence.
MS. OBAMA: Okay.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: "I wish I was more" --
MS. OBAMA: I wish I was more -- probably patient. I'm getting there. (Laughs.)
MS. RODRIGUEZ: "I wish Barack" -- "I wish Barack wasn't so" --
MS. OBAMA: I wish Barack wasn't so busy all the time. (Laughs.)
MS. RODRIGUEZ: I knew you'd say that. Who cooks at home?
MS. OBAMA: When we cook, I cook. But a lot of times we -- you know, it's a lot of ordering out. It's a lot of folks bringing food, you know. It's -- this year has not been usual.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Yeah.
MS. OBAMA: But outside of this year, I would generally cook.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Are you a good cook?
MS. OBAMA: I'm a good cook when I have time to do it. But I'm not -- you know, I'm not somebody who has to cook. If there's somebody else who's got a good meal, we're there. (Laughs.)
MS. RODRIGUEZ: If he's had a long day and he just wants to come home and have Michelle's what -- what's the best meal you make that he loves?
MS. OBAMA: Oh, he loves my shrimp linguine. It's garlicky, with sun-dried tomatoes. That's one of his favorite dishes.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Is there ever a time, at the end of the day, when you and Senator Obama are home and you just think, "What have we gotten ourselves into?"
MS. OBAMA: (Laughs.) Well, first, we'd have to be at home together. (Laughs.)
MS. RODRIGUEZ: (Laughs.) Which doesn't happen?
MS. OBAMA: And as you probably know -- you have kids -- your kids become your focus. And when we're not doing this, we're thinking about what we need to do to make sure that the girls are on point, that they've got their Halloween costumes, that we send in the project for the next assignment, that we're going to make it to the parent- teacher conference. That tends to consume all that extra energy and time that you have to daydream and ponder and think about what we've gotten ourselves into.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: What do your girls say they want to be when they grow up?
MS. OBAMA: Malia says she wants to be an actress. But she wants to go to a good school like Yale so that she can get a job if the acting thing doesn't work out. (Laughs.) Sasha says -- I think she wants to sing or dance. They're still into wanting to perform. I'm trying to, you know, get them focused on, like, law or something like that, but right now they love the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana. So I think they see themselves as Disney potential. (Laughs.)
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Favorite romantic movie. And can you recite a line from it?
MS. OBAMA: Oh, gosh. See, this is tough. I'm not good at lines from movies. Gosh, you're stumping me on that one.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Best spontaneous romantic gesture from your husband.
MS. OBAMA: Well, I think this -- our anniversary. It wasn't -- nothing is as spontaneous these days. But the fact that he took time off the campaign trail, flew home, took me to a wonderful dinner, gave me a beautiful gift -- that I won't share -- and that, you know, the fact that he did it in the midst of all this, because I told him, "You know what, let's just not worry about our anniversary this year; we can celebrate later." He's, like, "Absolutely not."
MS. RODRIGUEZ: How many years?
MS. OBAMA: Sixteen.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Wow.
MS. OBAMA: Sixteen years.
MS. RODRIGUEZ: Where do you see yourself in 16 years?
MS. OBAMA: Sixteen years. Barack will have served two successful terms in the White House, and our children will have been in college and they'll be starting their careers. And, you know, we'll be starting to think about that next phase of life. But I'm hoping that he and I have some time to travel, spend time with friends. You know, I see us moving into the next phase of our adult life.
Now the questions asked in a CBS interview of Cindy McCain:
(CBS) CBS News anchor Katie Couric talked one-on-one with Cindy McCain about her husband's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate. They also discussed social issues, such as abortion. Couric began by asking McCain if the governor has been rattled by the intense media scrutiny
Katie Couric: When did you and your husband first discuss her as a possibility?
Couric: Do you feel confident, Mrs. McCain, that the vetting process which is getting a lot of attention was as thorough as it needed to be and that Sen. McCain knew everything he needed to know?
Couric: The scuttlebutt, if you will, behind the scenes is that Sen. McCain really wanted Joe Lieberman to be his running mate, but social conservatives would have found him unacceptable because of his position on abortion.
Couric: Some, even Republicans, seemed surprised that Sen. McCain picked a running mate who opposes abortion even in the cases of rape and incest, and believes creationism should be taught in schools. And I'm just curious, do you agree with that?
Couric: Where do you stand on abortion?
Couric: So do you oppose it even in cases of rape and incest?
Couric: So that's where you two differ in terms of your position on that.
Couric: And do you believe Roe V. Wade should be overturned?
Couric: No. Why not? Your husband does.
Couric: He believes it should be overturned. That's what he told me, and that it should go to the states.
Couric: So, you believe it should be overturned or shouldn't be overturned.
Couric: How do you feel about creationism? Do you think it should be taught in schools?

Chapter I
The Obamassiah shall reveal himself to us by his teachings, which will be the spoken word in the form of the finest silk and silver.
Do not fear if the words of the Obamassiah are not at first clear, you need only to hear them and believe. Be not afraid if the feeling of a cool breeze runs up one’s leg. Do not fear if the words of his glory remove you from your senses and fainting occurs.
Our savior shall become known to us by the wreath of arugala upon his head and his ears for they shall take the form of the handles of a jug of the finest wine.

The Book of The Obamassiah
Chapter II
The Commandments of the Obamassiah are nine but this is a living document and changes are made as needed.
I. Thou shalt not speak the middle name of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist and it shall not be tolerated.
II. Thou shalt not mention past associations of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For despite any recent or current friendship his holiness may have with them, he was only a child when they ran afoul of the law. Or he missed that sermon.
III. Thou shalt not mention praise of the Obamassiah by murderers and tyrants. To do so exposes thine as a racist, it is a sign that thine has truly lost one’s bearings.
IV. Thou shalt not mention the schooling of the Obamassiah at any point in his existence. To do so exposes thine as a racist.
V. Thou shalt not question the Obamassiah more than eight times. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For the time of his holiness is of a value beyond your own.
VI. Thou shalt not question the past of the Obamassiah family arrival or his birth. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For events in time matter not if they occur differently than his holiness speaks of them. It matters only that you believe.
VII. Thou shalt not question the words of the Obamassiah’s spouse. For if her words mirror those of the past associations of his holiness then thine is a racist twice over for the mention of them. (see II)
VIII. The purveyors of words to the people shall cast only praise on the Obamassiah. To turn from this exposes thine as a racist and a soldier of the unbeliever and thine should be cast out and lose any source of livelihood.
IX. Thou shalt not question the patriotism of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For by not displaying any outward love for his land only proves his love for his land.

Chapter III
Those unenlightened to the truth, and the light, and the way of the Obamassiah shall cling to armaments and religions other than that of the Obamassiah and will mistrust his glory for they understand it not.

The Book of The Obamassiah
Chapter I
The Obamassiah shall reveal himself to us by his teachings, which will be the spoken word in the form of the finest silk and silver.
Do not fear if the words of the Obamassiah are not at first clear, you need only to hear them and believe. Be not afraid if the feeling of a cool breeze runs up one’s leg. Do not fear if the words of his glory remove you from your senses and fainting occurs.
Our savior shall become known to us by the wreath of arugala upon his head and his ears for they shall take the form of the handles of a jug of the finest wine.

The Book of The Obamassiah
Chapter II
The Commandments of the Obamassiah are nine but this is a living document and changes are made as needed.
I. Thou shalt not speak the middle name of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist and it shall not be tolerated.
II. Thou shalt not mention past associations of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For despite any recent or current friendship his holiness may have with them, he was only a child when they ran afoul of the law. Or he missed that sermon.
III. Thou shalt not mention praise of the Obamassiah by murderers and tyrants. To do so exposes thine as a racist, it is a sign that thine has truly lost one’s bearings.
IV. Thou shalt not mention the schooling of the Obamassiah at any point in his existence. To do so exposes thine as a racist.
V. Thou shalt not question the Obamassiah more than eight times. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For the time of his holiness is of a value beyond your own.
VI. Thou shalt not question the past of the Obamassiah family arrival or his birth. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For events in time matter not if they occur differently than his holiness speaks of them. It matters only that you believe.
VII. Thou shalt not question the words of the Obamassiah’s spouse. For if her words mirror those of the past associations of his holiness then thine is a racist twice over for the mention of them. (see II)
VIII. The purveyors of words to the people shall cast only praise on the Obamassiah. To turn from this exposes thine as a racist and a soldier of the unbeliever and thine should be cast out and lose any source of livelihood.
IX. Thou shalt not question the patriotism of the Obamassiah. To do so exposes thine as a racist. For by not displaying any outward love for his land only proves his love for his land.
