Barack Obama As Tragic Hero Who Can Never Understand What he Most Needs To Understand Before It Is Too Late

This is from Victor Davis Hanson's most recent piece at Pajamas Media. I was tipped to this by reading Pundit and Pundette. The whole thing is worth the time. I will reproduce below a few of the best paragraphs.

"We shall never hear it, but there are hundreds of Democratic operatives who even now are concluding that Obama blew it: with ratings near 70%, with large majorities in Congress, with conservatives in disarray, all he had to do was show a modicum of fiscal sanity, do a bipartisan showy health care fix, praise Bush for the surge or keeping us safe for 7 years, and in general cease talking about himself, giving nonstop interviews, apologizing, and sermonizing. Had he done all that, he could have been as successful as Reagan or Clinton in neutralizing the opposition.
"But in tragedy most recognition comes after, not before, the fall.
"In other words, Democrats are starting to get wise to what Obama has wrought — and many fear not merely that he has the ability to take them down with him, but in fact doesn’t much care about them if he does.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
"If in the past “hope and change” rhetoric bedazzled a college dean or philanthropist, why would he cease now since he believes that both the electorate and the world at large are as gullible to his charms as the university/community-organizing crowd was in the past?
"In short, he can no more stop than could all-knowing Oedipus."

Doctor Zero at HotAir.com's Green Room has a quick review of the facts about Obama that are new to you if you have stuck by the MSM but which would have been well know to you if you freequent talk radio, the internet and Fox News.

John F. Gaski has a piece at American Thinker called 'Understanding the Democrats' Scheme' that lays out some of the scary moves we might be seeing in the near future from Obama and company.

Obama's Base Feeling Betrayed On Health Care Reform: "He's Such A Charming Liar"

***********************************************************

This video was done by a Huffpo-type leftie who is obviously disappointed by Barack Obama not being everything the one time worshiper believed he was. Redstate says the creator of this video, Lee Stranahan is, "an uninsured father and Huffington Post blogger."
My first reaction to the nomination of John McCain was to say I would not vote for a RINO. But I also had an uneasy feeling that I would end up voting for McCain because Obama would just be too unpalatable. And I ended up voting for the RINO because, by the time of the election, I had read so many disturbing things about Obama that McCain did not look so bad by comparison (even so, Obama has proven to be even worse as president than I ever expected). And, unless things become much worse for this leftie, I expect he will end up holding his nose and voting for Obama again. The only good news is that this leftie and others like him will not work nearly as hard for Obama next time. They will give less money. And a few more of them just won’t make to the polls on election day. Who else do they have? They are not going to switch their allegiance to Biden the vice president of gaffes and confusion.

Below is a recording from Air America with more rumblings from the left. The guy even asks if it might not be possible that the tea party people are right. A real leftie siding with tea party goers over The Light of Chicago. It might be good for Obama that he got that dog.

Sometimes Obamavalues Still Win

It is possible that the guy is just a Fox News reporter who had to assume a more socially acceptable role in order to do his job.

“Bogus claims have been made by those who only want to make trouble.”

Pundit and Pundette ran a little piece yesterday exposing more of the emperor’s nakedness. They pointed out that there is no Obama health care bill. I can only add to that his willingness to use as proof of his statements and wild accusations any part of the existing bills he finds convenient and to ignore any part of them he finds inconvenient. His accusations are by definition wild because they are not based on any portion of the real world anyone but President Obama can access. Add to this his speech last night about his own private health care world and you have a Fantasyland that is only entered by the president but used by him as a weapon to beat up on his enemies. And on top of that we have an unquestioning press corps who have entered another bizarre reality in which they think their job is to support the president no matter what rather than truly getting to the bottom of what he says. They are not even very sure of what he is saying or proposing but they back it up one hundred per cent regardless.
Barack Obama spoke to both chambers of Congress last night and said that, “Bogus claims have been made by those who only want to make trouble.” Sounds like some pretty rotten people. I don’t think too highly of people who only want to make trouble. I wonder why the president did not name some of them and give us some examples of these bogus claims.
He did gave as an example of these trouble makers those who say that illegal aliens will be covered by his reform legislation. The little problem with that is that no legislation presently under consideration in congress includes any procedure for determining the immigration status of a recipient of health care. Even more embarrassing for the president’s claim is the fact that none of the legislation being considered proscribes any penalty for a provider who treats non-covered non-citizens. In other words, people who make such claims are not wrong. Yet, in spite of the truth of their claims, Mr. Obama gets all holier than thou and attacks their character without factual basis. Who is it who, “Only want(s) to make trouble?” If anyone fits that definition it would seem to be President Obama and his bogus claims.
Mr. Obama waxes indignant easily. And it would be easier to take him serious if I had ever been led to believe his sermonizing is based on some reality other than his desire to make his adversaries look bad. But the more factless screeds that come from the president the less likely it is that people will see him as anything other than a pathetic joke. A pathetic joke who clouds the air of civil discourse with lies and just makes progress more difficult for anyone who seriously undertakes legislative improvement.

Victor Davis Hanson On Liberal Americans' Racial Denial System

A large part of the reason lefties stand strongly behind Obama is that they think he can give them a free pass on racial issues. Without the prefabricated denial system on race that Obama sells them the lefties would find themselves in the same swamp of difficulty and self-doubt about racial issues that our history has landed all thinking, feeling Americans in. Here are some quotes from a recent column at NRO by VDH:

“. . . one of weirdest paradoxes of contemporary culture has been the tendency of wealthy white liberals to adjudicate who really speaks for the so-called African-American community — based on an authenticity that is often, in ironic fashion, based on the degree of perceived hostility to whites themselves.”

“. . . the implicit pact that the soothing racial healer Barack Obama offered them. It was an unspoken understanding that might be paraphrased as something along the following lines: “Vote for me and I will offer you instant exemption from all prior racial guilt — and yet allow you to live your rather secluded lives as usual.”
“In other words, the endowed professor, the corporate attorney, the green CEO, the endowment officer, and the high-school teacher could all continue to live in safe and separate neighborhoods, ensure their children went to mostly white and Asian schools (whether elite public or private), and through taxes for entitlements and abstract support for affirmative action still feel they were doing a great deal for race relations. As they saw it, they elected one comfortable and hip Barack Obama as their president — without living among, going to school with, or working alongside the Other.”

“. . . the impression was left that Barack Obama sees America quite differently from many, if not most, of its citizens — who understand our own sins as those shared with mankind, but our singular efforts at correcting them as unmatched abroad.”

“None of us gets a pass once we evoke racial identity, not even the president of the United States, not even one of mixed racial heritage. Once we go down that road of racial self-aggrandizement, of seeing each other not by the content of our characters, but by the color of our skins, we invite nemesis — and there will be retribution. Because Barack Obama has consistently emphasized racial identity to further his own advantage, I fear others, both black and white, will be emboldened to follow his polarizing lead — in ways both novel and far more pernicious. We once trusted our uniquely qualified president to help lead us out of our racial morass, but so far he has only pushed us far deeper into it.’

You CAN Buy Your Way Into Power -- Under Obama That Might Be The Only Way To Get Any

Here's a quote from Hot Air.com: “’By my calculation, nearly half of the top level of Obama campaign bundlers have been rewarded with some sort of role within the government‘.
“None of this should come as a surprise to anyone who knows about Chicago politics and its own patronage system.  Obama grew up, politically speaking, in a system that routinely handed out cushy sinecures to contributors.  He never once lifted a finger to reform the Daley Machine or even oppose it; instead, Obama embraced Daley and the political power Daley lent Obama.
“Morgen wonders when the national media will start taking a closer look at Chicago-on-the-Potomac.  I’d be pleasantly surprised if they did, but that won’t stop us from highlighting it for as long as it takes.”

Obama did not give each and every American a promise in writing that he would not bring record levels of corruption to DC, so he probably sees all of this as within the limits of his mandate. But really, why would you expect a Chicago politician to behave like anything but a Chicago politician?

Access to White House Staffers and Congressmen Openly for Sale: For Those Wondering When Change Was Coming, IT'S HERE

A piece by Mike Allen and Michael Calderone at Politico says about the flier from WaPo promising for $250.000 to put lobbyists, White House staff and congressmen together:
“The flier promised the dinner would be held in an intimate setting with no unseemly conflict between participants. “Spirited? Yes. Confrontational? No,” it said. “The relaxed setting in the home of Katharine Weymouth assures it. What is guaranteed is a collegial evening, with Obama administration officials, Congress members, business leaders, advocacy leaders and other select minds typically on the guest list of 20 or less. “

History Rewritten In Plain View

Hey, ya know like love is hate and war is peace, dude.

And if you don't believe Barack, he and his teacher's unions will continue the dumbing down until the evening news is just too intellectually challenging.

More Fishy Bisiness From Team Obama

Barack Obama has promised to make sunshine a major priority in his third or maybe fourth term.
