PBS Broadcasting Propaganda for Castro

The story in the WSJ pointing out how much of a tool of the Castro regime Ray Suarez and PBS are is only available to subscribers. But here are a couple of quotes from a NewsBusters story that covers this disgusting development.

"The series was taped in Cuba with government “cooperation” so there is no surprise that it went heavy on the party line. Still, there was something disturbing about how Mr. Suarez allowed himself to be used by the police state, dutifully reciting its dubious claims as if he were reporting great advances in medical science."
……..
"O'Grady insists "dissent is spreading in Cuba like dengue fever because daily life is so onerous." Botin has authored a book called Los Funerales de Castro that pulls back the curtain on the "Potemkin village" foreigners see on official visits. In private, there are "no limits to the derision of the brothers Castro." But:
Mr. Suarez's report, by contrast is like a state propaganda film. In one segment, an American woman named Gail Reed who lives in Cuba tells him that the government's claim of its people's longevity is due to a first rate system of disease prevention. he then parrots the official line that Cuba's wealth of doctors is the key ingredient...An abundance of doctors? Not in the Cuba Mr. Botin lived in. In 2006, the government claimed there were 65,000 doctors. That number, he says, was "a figure many professionals considered inflated." When Cubans complained they couldn't get care, he notes that the state upped the number "magically" to 71,000 five months later. Given Fidel's habit of making things up, it's hard to know how many competent doctors the government has trained. But there is no disputing the fact that thousands of medics have been sent overseas in large numbers to earn hard currency for the regime. There is also no question that Cubans are paying the price at home."
…….
""Reporters who want access to Cuba know that they have to toe the Castro line. I get that. Mr. Suarez must figure that this American audience does not."

Mark Shields: Another Leftie Trying to Rewrite History

The most significant thing about this clip is how lefties fear and continually try to destroy the free marketplace of ideas.

They Lost Because They Only Won By 4%

I just thought this is funny. Some lefties will perform weird mental gymnastics just to avoid self examination.

Alice in SundayMorningLand

.
"Amanpour is a ratings and journalistic disaster. It is hard to understand why she was picked for a serious Sunday talk-show-host position and even harder to understand what she is still doing there. The White House is taking an opportunity to clean house. Shouldn’t ABC News do the same?"
Jennifer Rubin
Quality nears the zero point and there is an avalanche of viewer losses. Yet week after week we still have Amanpour spouting White House and DNC talking points never noticing recalcitrant reality slapping her repeatedly in the face.
Same morning, same beltway over at NBC David Gregory is trying to resurrect the worn out and never proven slander that the Tea Parties are racist. A Colorado Democrat supplies an account of his personal experience that invalidates Gregory's slander.
It all makes for a surreal picture. Political discussion shows where the hosts were once expected to be unbiased facilitators of discussion have shape shifted over the past couple of decades. It is funny to watch the liberal hacks who claim to have suddenly grown concerned about the sad fate of the Republican Party. The more popular support the Republicans gain among the public the more the hacks bemoan how extreme and crazy they have become. If the Republicans get just a little more popular they will probably call in the coroner. These shows have grown into monstrosities that are mere burlesques of their former selves. Which explains why so much of the audience has moved on.

Imagine That: Large Protest Against Media Bias Ignored by Large Media Outlets

******************************************************

I picked up this clip at JammieWearingFool. Here's a notable quote from that particular fool: "Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson could announce a can opening and every media outlet in town would be there. Some people show up to protest media bias and it's as if it never happened."

Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics: This Story Has Them All

I watched the panel discussion on Stephanopoulos’ Sunday morning show. George S. and most of the panel kept referring to to a new NYT/CBS poll. They kept quoting numbers for approval of the president’s unwritten plan that were wildly higher than any I have heard. A story at Patterico’s Pontifications today analyzed the methodology of the poll. The poll is pure BS and gun smoke and basically a fraud. Here are a couple of quotes from the post by Karl at Patterico.

“This is what propaganda looks like:
“Americans overwhelmingly support substantial changes to the health care system and are strongly behind [72%] one of the most contentious proposals Congress is considering, a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurers, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
“Bruce Kesler points out that — in traditional NYT/CBS fashion — the sample is badly skewed:
“According to the actual poll data, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama. The actual vote was 48% McCain.
“This is a good example of why reading a poll is as much art as science, because the first problem is the percentage who say they voted in the 2008 election. In reality, no more than 62% of eligible voters cast ballots last year. Accordingly, the poll has sampled a lot of adults who were ineligible to vote… or, as often happens, respondents lied about voting. In such cases, the lie tends to skew in favor of the winner.
“Does that mean the sample might be more valid than Kesler suggests? Not in this case. In this poll, the sample identified as 27% liberal, 37% moderate, and 29% conservative. In contrast, last week’s Gallup Poll showed Americans identify as 21% liberal, 35% moderate, and 40% conservative.”

And there is another big problem with the poll that automatically skews the results toward the direction the NYT apparently demanded:

Of those somehow chosen for the sample, “16% was temporarily out of work, and another 10% was not in the market for work. Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg tells us that those who have been unemployed within the past year (or have an immediate family member in that category) are the most supportive of a government takeover of the US healthcare system. So a sample with much higher unemployment than the national average tells us something about the skew here also.”

This morning Diane Sawyer said about ABC, "I know that our network has worked very, very hard to be completely- completely responsible and fair and serious about big issues." The relish with which most of the ABC employees endlessly repeated the results of this poll leads me to believe that either they are going to tell us that health care is not one of the big issues or Sawyer is a liar.

“There Is A Debate Going On, They’re [MSM] Not Part of It. They Have Made A Decision.”

What If You Had A Tea Party and Rahm Emanuel Said The Reporters Couldn't Come ???

This link to Instapundit has coverage of tea parties in forests all over the place that reporters refused to hear. MSM = by liberals, for liberals.

Obama's Stem Cell Fudge

========The Dickey-Wicker Amendment=============
There was unlimited press about lifting the evilBushHitler's ban on federal financing of stem cell research. But the true amount of Change in policy is pretty limited. The remainder of this post is quotes from a Fox News story that describes the narrow amount of Change involved.

President Obama may have abolished contentious Bush-era restraints on federal funding of stem cell research on Monday, but a legislative obstacle still remains for scientists seeking more money.
A spending bill that Obama signed on Wednesday explicitly bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death," language that pertains to creation of new stem cell lines.
. . . . . . . . . . . .
Bush's executive policy additionally had limited researchers receiving federal aid to just 21 stem cell lines created before August 2001. Obama's reversal allows them to use hundreds of other stem cell lines already in existence.
But the Dickey-Wicker provision still prevents federally backed researches from creating their own stem cell lines, blocking their access to hundreds of new embryonic stem cell lines, usually from embryos left over from fertility treatments that would otherwise be discarded. Scientists tout such promising, long-term research in hopes of creating better treatments, possibly even cures, for conditions ranging from diabetes to paralysis.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Obama said Monday the stem cell policy is designed so that it "never opens the door to the use of cloning for human reproduction." Such cloning, he said, "is dangerous, profoundly wrong, and has no place in our society or any society."
Now the ball is in Congress' court, where only lawmakers can overturn Dickey-Wicker, which will remain in effect at least until the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

Lewis Black Promises Lots More Political Comedy After Honeymoon

Black might make some sense but he saw no media bias? Give me a break. But how often do you hear someone complain about the ref when every call goes their way?
Sure Obama can read a resume. But what good does that do if the guy gave you pages and pages of lies?
There will always be stupidity in American politics. But it tends to kill political humor if the whole MSM ignores anything stupid coming from the Dems.
Black acts like the questioner is asking dumb questions. But Black's unwillingness to look at why he would ask is willful stupidity.
