Obama Pays Off A Union With Taxpayer Money And Jobs
Barack Obama owes the unions big time for the money and volunteers they marshaled in the election. And he is now paying them back with our money. Does that make Barack and the unions thieves? Could be. The latest gift to the unions is the Chrysler bailout. The union and Obama’s federal government with their GM stock get most of the equity and profits and the private bond holders get screwed. Normally (if financial genius Barack Obama weren’t president) the bond holders would be taken care of before stock holders would be given a share. I guess the main lesson is to minutely examine the political landscape before investing. It might even pay to listen to Rush. But mainly this kind of action from the government will cause invertors to quit investing, increase the drying up of credit and cause lots more unemployment. If you’re unemployed just remember that it’s partly so some $45 an hour UAW worker can own a failed company and continue to manufacture crap that no one will buy. And assuredly more than one normal worker will remain unemployed for every auto worker made rich. And all because the auto guy’s union boss gave millions to Barack.
Below I quote verbatim two paragraphs from Powerline because they nail the sad situation.
The Chrysler reorganization is shaping up as another milestone in the decline of the rule of law under Barack Obama. We've said for quite a while that bankruptcy is the only viable option for Chrysler and General Motors, not--as Obama claims--because they don't know how to make the right kinds of vehicles, but because their unsustainable union contracts make it impossible for them to be profitable. That reality has now been turned on its head, as the administration has tried to bully Chrysler's secured creditors into going away, while the United Auto Workers Union, solely on the basis of political clout, would be paid at an implied rate of 50 percent and would emerge owning 55 percent of the company, with the government also holding a stake.
This is banana republic capitalism at its worst. Political influence, rather than the law, dictates the rights of the parties. When some of the secured creditors refused to be intimidated, Obama libeled them in the press, saying, outrageously, "I don't stand with those who held out when everyone else is making sacrifices." Actually, under Obama's plan the politically favored parties, principally the UAW, will benefit--will steal money, to put it crudely--from the parties who held out. Those parties call themselves the "non-TARP lenders."

Some Democrat Senators Oppose The New Budget; Reid Goes Procedural On Them
The AP is reporting some resistance among Democrat senators to the budget bill. Some of them don’t want massive amounts of money given to a company notorious for funneling money from federal boondoggles into the campaign funds of law makers who vote to give them the money. Could we be turning a corner on legalized bribery? One can hope. But I suspect they’re just cutting an egregious abuser out of the herd. Here’s a quote from the AP story:
“Most significantly, Democrats Evan Bayh of Indiana and Russ Feingold of Wisconsin announced Wednesday that they will vote against the bill. Both urged Obama to veto it.
“"There's just a disconnect between what people are having to go through in their daily lives - tightening their belts, economizing where they can - and what they see the government is doing," Bayh said in an interview. "I just think it's tone deaf and, substantively, we do need to get the deficit under control."
Democratic leaders scrambled to hold onto other Democrats, even as some GOP leaders conceded the bill is going to pick up GOP votes that would prove critical to its passage.
““I just don't know whether we have enough votes to stop it," said Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., the No. 3 GOP leader in the Senate.
“The measure contains budget increases, on average, of 8 percent for the domestic agencies it covers, far more than they received under the Bush administration. But moderates such as Bayh are unhappy with the additional spending, especially after many agencies received huge infusions of money under the just-enacted economic recovery bill.
“At the same time, Democratic Sens. Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Bill Nelson of Florida are weighing whether to oppose the legislation over a provision buried in it that would moderate rules on travel to Cuba and would make it easier for Cuba to pay for imports of food and medicine.
“Democratic leaders hope to clear the bill - it passed the House last week - to meet a Friday deadline. That's when a stopgap funding law that keeps the government going, mostly at 2008 levels, runs out.
“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., is also trying to keep the bill free of floor amendments that would force the measure into negotiations with the House that would delay enactment or kill the measure altogether.
“But that means Democrats will have to cast some politically difficult votes. One of the most uncomfortable was expected Wednesday afternoon on an amendment by Tom Coburn, R-Okla., to kill 13 so-called "earmarks" requested by lawmakers for projects sought by PMA Group, a lobbying company at the center of a federal corruption investigation.
“The PMA Group, which recently folded, had a reputation for funneling campaign money to lawmakers that obtained earmarks for its clients and is under investigation by the Justice Department over whether the company reimbursed some employees for campaign contributions to members of Congress who requested the projects.”

My Latest Stupid Idea
I doubt that you need me to tell you that congress lacks imagination and courage. Few Americans will need any help from me despising and disrespecting Congress.
So here’s my stupid idea. At present, Congress is giving hundreds of billions of dollars to most any company that asks. This is great because everyone enjoys people with money and power making fools of themselves on a large scale right out in public and everything. I think Jon Stewart might thus define the essence of humor. But Congress is passing up a chance to give us even more laughs for our billions. Congress needs to start bailing out future fuck ups (fuck ups who won’t find their way into Congress). For example, there’s an eight year old little girl next door. Her father has a small, successful business. And little Heather is very capable of growing up and running a giant corporation into the ground. Congress should take Couric, Ross, Lauer, Blitzer and a bunch of cameras and give Heather forty or fifty billion. It would be absurdly funny. That wonderful kind of funny that ensues when you have no control over a situation and you have to try to find it amusing to keep from becoming violent or succumbing to paralyzing depression. Add to this the satisfying sense of moral and intellectual superiority that will be enjoyed by everyone not in Congress or the media. A scene like this would provide plenty of fodder for both Republicans and Democrats to glow with self-satisfaction. Congress is going to throw the money away without regard to public opinion or the good of the Republic anyway. We might as well get something out of it.
But here is the sad part. They will not give Heather any money because Heather has never given them any. Congress is going to give trillions away but only to people and corporations that have already given bribes to members of Congress. They call these bribes campaign contributions and they have made it legal for you to bribe them. But a bribe is a bribe. And the bribes are what activate the bail outs.
My advise to America is to not become violent or depressed. Look upon the present Congress as an endless source of laughter. But go easy on the moral and intellectual superiority lest it sap energy that might better be mobilized to throw every last one of those thieving, bribe taking clowns out of office.

How Do You Bribe A Congressman?
I know this. This is easy. You bundle up thousands of dollars with other people's names on it and give it to the congressman. He grabs it more quickly than you thought possible. Then you give him the proposed bill your lawyers have written . You don't have to say anything else: he knows his job is to get the bill passed. He gets the six figure salary for being a member of congress wether or not he does anything. But these extras require him to produce. And he usually will. This isn't really a 'do nothing' congress. It's a 'won't do nothing unless you pay a whole lot for every little thing' congress. Doctors call it fee for service and they love it.The constitution gives congress all the power to set rules for itself and to oversee its ethical standards. So congress has made it legal for its members to accept bribes. I don't think the founders ever imagined that we would elect 435 people so morally corrupt. The majority of them are taking bribes with both hands while chanting, "Get Bush. Get Bush."Barrack Obama claims to represent ethical purity. With a close care for words that Bill Clinton would respect B. O. claims not to accept money from special interests. But apparently he will accept massive bundles from the same men who give special interest money to other candidates. Part of what is 'new' about B. O. is that he is the 'new' one being given a pass by most reporters.
