The Outrage of Pretzel Ethics

**********************************************
When the Republicans do it she calls it an abuse of power. When she does it she is shamelessly happy. She might lack the ability to be an ethical person. Instead she is talented at gaming the system while demanding ethical behavion from those she would manipulate.

A Third Party Presedential Win in 2012?

O'Reilly lets Beck do most of the talking so it's bearable and enlightening.

The Kennedy Legacy

Maybe I don't have any class. But I wonder if Stephanie Miller is the best judge of that. This vid/audio file is from the Radio Equalizer.

"Edward M. Kennedy became a laughingstock the old-fashioned way: He earned it."
-- Robert Stacy McCain

The Other McCain has an excellent collection of quotes and videos about the 'legacy.'
Chappaquiddick is a default MS spell check item. Hmmm Just part of the legacy.
Some of R. McCain's stuff is news to me. I was 21 when Chappaquiddick happened. That puts it near the beginning of my lost years. During that time I ignored a lot of the news. I do recall that after the ugly incident at the bridge and the subsequent miscarriage of justice I averted my gaze from Kennedy: I was truly ashamed of the total mockery of our laws that his special treatment made inescapably obvious. Is that the essence of his legacy: that the laws are not going to apply to rich powerful people? Is that why Tim Geithner and Tom Dashle and Charlie Rangel can urinate without consequence on the tax laws that would put many other poorer, powerless people in jail? Stephanie Miller might be committed to defending the chosen few from the rule of law. I am committed to the opposite course.

"The victory for Edward Kennedy is demeaning to the dignity of the Senate and the democratic process."
-- New York Times, editorial in response to
Kennedy's first Senate election, 1962

"On this day, every patriotic American should mourn the death of a liberal activist who diligently labored to continue the Kennedy family's noble legacy of public service. Until the day she died in 1969."
-- Robert Stacy McCain
The information about Kennedy's treacherous dealing with the KGB is totally new to me.
"This letter which details Senator Edward Kennedy's offer to help the Soviet Union defeat Reagan’s efforts to build up the nuclear deterrent in Europe was unearthed . . . after the KGB files were opened . . .
"Kennedy believes that, given the current state of affairs, and in the interest of peace, it would be prudent and timely to undertake the following steps to counter the militaristic politics of Reagan . . . In this regard, he offers the following proposals to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Y.V. Andropov . . ."
-- Committee on State Security of the USSR, May 1983
This has never been openly and adequately discussed. At the risk of appearing classless I have to say that a country that cares about self preservation has to take such things more serious than we have. If the American government is going to be more than just a private servant of the privileged like Miller, Kennedy, Geithner and Obama, we have to talk about these things and deal with them. Even if Miller has stylistic problems with her and her friends' special status being questioned.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

I ran across this comment at Hot Air.com by ericdijon on August 23, 2009 at 11:48 AM. It cuts right to the quick of who Congress is and what is happening in Washington, DC.

My Congressman Is Brow Beaten By Chris Matthews: Campbell Is Spineless

It is a gerrymandered, safe Republican district. But I think that he is getting pressure from conservatives and feels a need to prove he has street cred or something. It funny to watch him being a quarter birther but mostly afraid that crazy Chris Matthews might think he is crazy. I can't respect someone who cares so much about what Matthews thinks. I voted against this clown in the last election because he voted for TARP without having even read the bill. I will continue to vote against him because he continues to not read and not deliberate on the legislation he votes on.

Republican for Cap and Trade Not Feeling Any Love at Home **And All New LEGISLATIVE PLACEHOLDERS

This is Mike Castle of Delaware. He claims to have read 300 pages before the vote. But the bill is 1200 pages long. The man appears to have no shame about his dereliction of duty. I know I'm a dreamer but isn't this something the House Ethics Committee should have to deal with?

It gets worse. There is a section that basically says, 'After the bill is passed we will add to it and stick the new stuff here.' Isn't that the part of the Venn diagram where extra-constitutional and unconstitutional overlap? Michelle Malkin covers covers this obamination that the rats in congress are calling a 'placeholder.' Be sure to read MM. This is another area for my fantasy Ethics Committee to deal with.
He never explained why he voted for the bill.
I would compliment him for his courage if I thought this was more than a flubbed PR stunt. I don't think he cares what his constitutients think. I suspect he thinks the voters have no real power over him. To speak somewhat honestly to people you feel are beneath your dignity to mix with is not courageous. It's a stunt.

Some Present and a Former Member of Congress Who Will Rake in Lots of Cash If They Saddle Us With Cap and Trade

Spain has reached 18% unemployment (twice the European average)because they have a favoritism enhanced cap and trade bill. And I'll bet Spain can't even begin to compete with our congress in corruption and total unconcern for the citizenry.

More Good Reading on the Net

Jo-Joe Politico has story about three newly commissioned US Navy ships. To give a little of the flavor, the USS BARACK OBAMA has, “An onboard Type One DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may seem hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere.”
Jane Q. Republican has a clip from the Rachel Maddow show. Rachel seems unbelievably self-satisfied that she just happens to have joined a political party that is presently in the ascendancy. She seems to be under the impression that there is some kind of direct relationship between truth and number of people claiming membership in a party this week. I wonder if she will make a similar connection between herself generally being FOS and tne mass migration of viewers away from her show. Reminds me of the Democratic Party days of being an offshoot of the KKK throughout the South and so many Democrats felt especially smart for having been born white. She probably acts especially smug also because this is not one of those days that her Mercedes had to be hauled into the shop. During most of the clip she is interviewing Ron Paul.
Stop the ACLU has a fascinating clip of the Democrat members of the House Judiciary Committee voting to protect pedophiles from hate crimes. Then one of the Democrats gets all uppity and nasty because she feels it’s an insult to pedophiles and others to propose that the legislation also protect veterans. The money quote: “If a mother hears that their child has been raped and she slaps the assailant with her purse, she is now gone after as a hate criminal because this is a protected class. There are other protected classes in here. I mean simple exhibitionism. I have female friends who have told me over the years that some guy flashed them, and their immediate reaction was to hit them with their purse. Well now, he’s committed a misdemeanor, she has committed a federal hate crime because the exhibitionism is protected under sexual orientation.” Truly the nuts are now running the walnut factory, they just call themselves Democrats and members of congress.
Pundit and Pundette have a post titled ‘Obama and henchmen accused of Mafia-like Tactics’ which is about the reports coming out of the Chrysler reorganization talks. They provide some good links. They have a couple of good quotes from Mark Steyn. And then a clip of the Oklahoma Full Auto Shoot and Trade Show which will appeal to fans of sniper rifles and fully automatic weaponry titled ‘Video: Just for fun, shooting at a minivan filled with explosives.’ Finally P & P have a post about some communication between the president and Senator Orin Hatch about the coming SCOTUS nomination. “On Monday, Obama presented him with a decoder ring in the form of a phone call to assure the conservative Hatch that the court pick wouldn’t be divisive or dangerous — and would attract bipartisan support“ But in Obama‘s brave new world, who knows what this means, so P & P give it some context.
Suzanna at Insert clever s,logan here has a post titled ‘Punk-smacking the Beyotch, er Behar’ about a recent interview of Ann Coulter by Joy Behar in which AC owns Behar who was left with a confused look on her face. Then comes a post titled ’The Dark Side’ that is about Wolverine. Suzanna hasn’t seen it yet but I have little doubt that she will.
And So It Goes In Shreveport has a post about Saxbe Chambliss’s effort to make sure none of the Gitmo detainees are released onto US soil. Why, you might wonder, does Chambliss have to go to a lot of trouble to enact what is plainly common sense? Read the post, I highly recommend it. Pat also has a little post about the presidential--plane NYC flyover fiasco (also known as the $328,835 snapshot that caused many in DC to exclaim. “Who me? No not me?” but left me wondering if anyone is both responsible and accountable). This is followed by a piece titled ‘An Empathetic Judge' that I would subtitle ‘SCOTUS, Empathy. Code Words and what drives those in Washington to never say what the truly mean” and the subsubtitle would be “I was a fool to trust you or anyone like you.’ If you’re picking up a lot of attitude here, it’s from me not Pat. She tends to traffic more in the objective world. At least until she talks about goats. She likes them. The last recent thing is a nightmare inducing post about someone recommending Algore to replace Souter. Thankfully I feel certain that our advocate for the polar bears would not take that low a salary or accept that heavy a workload.
Betsy’s Page tells us that, in spite of Reid’s support, Specter was not allowed any seniority in the Democrat’s caucus for time served as a Republican. Then Betsy, who is a high school teacher, has a long post critical of tenure for teachers. This was occasioned by a story in the L. A. Times that points out tenure is bad for kids, schools and education. Her quote from Mickey Kaus is worth relaying, “It's worth saying again: If the twittish, PC L.A.Times is now going after the teachers' unions, those unions have lost the PR battle in the mainstream press. Does President Obama ("We can afford nothing but the best when it comes to our children's teachers") know this? Do the Republicans who are desperately looking for an issue to use against the Dems?”

Another California Slimebag: Nancy Pelosi Looking For A Scaprgoat

Congress takes millions of dollars and lots of favors from Wall St. and the banks and is now trying to put the blame for what they did on the people whose bribes they took. There is no honor among thieves.
This is from the San Francisco Gate:
“Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying that the American people are demanding "discipline and accountability" after the multibillion-dollar federal bailouts, promised Wednesday to create a legislative commission with broad oversight to investigate the causes of Wall Street irregularities and their full costs to taxpayers.
. . . . .
“"We're going to have a commission ... even if it is only in the House of Representatives," Pelosi pledged, saying it would allow Americans "to have a clearer understanding of how we got here - and the risk that's been taken by the taxpayers in all this."“

I’ve been running my own investigation for a while now. And I am convinced that if congress had regulated these businesses properly we wouldn’t be in this mess. But since she wants to do some investigating, we really need to look into how much money and what sweetheart deals were given to members of congress by all of these people Pelosi now wants to put all of the blame on. Could she just tell me how much one has to pay a slew of congress people to have the privilege ruining the economy in a way that makes me the most money?
A real give away that this is a pathetic crooked joke is the next quote: “She said the move coincides with legislation she soon will send to President Obama on financial institution regulation and reform, "so we have transparency ... discipline and accountability to the American taxpayer."“ If Pelosi had any interest in transparency, discipline and accountability she would have brought some to congress. But all movement from her has been in the opposite direction. And now that the public is angry she is looking for a scapegoat for her own derelictions.

Thank Your Senator for Open Borders and the Reign of Terror It 's Bringing

And to sweeten the deal the dinosaur media is virtually ignoring this foreign run crime wave in our country. I guess some people won't know it's happening until their hand is being cut off.
