Mexican Drug Violence

.

Barack Obama wants to allow these murderers to move freely across our border. OK let him take that position. But then he needs to also concede that he cares not a damn for my health and safety.

US BORDER TOWNS CAUGHT IN CROSS-FIRE OF MEXICAN DRUG WARS

For the president to ignore these threats to the safety of American citizens is dereliction of duty. We can speak at the ballot box this year and and in 2012.

Sheriff in AZ States that Obama Has Ceded an 80 Mile Strip of the Border to Armed Drug Gangs

I do not think this has been covered in the MSM. Certainly no member of the press has publicly questioned Obama or Napolitano about it. If the situation is as reported by this sheriff, it sounds like gross dereliction of duty. And it is such a bizarro world scene: it seems to be cool with Obama for foreigners here only to break the law to carry weapons but he is very uncomfortable with a law abiding American citizen having a weapon. I can't quite get my mind around the moral nuances involved in this little nightmare. I wonder if this is all a part of creating that future whose looks he cannot picture. I live in Southern California and I am beginning to wonder if Obama will give us ample warning before he gives us back to Mexico. Strangely the FEC did not look into the sources of the nearly billion dollars in campaign funds Obama received. I have to wonder how much of it was a down payment on our South West from Mexico.

The Reductio Ad Absurdum of the the Open Borders Position

This caller might be a little extreme but her argument is basically what all advocates of open borders for the US rest upon: burying their heads in the sand and refusing to acknowledge or consider that there might be unpleasant or even unacceptable consequences to leaving the door wide open at all hours to anyone. As Condell says, "It's easy to be tolerant at someone else's expense." In Arizona there has been a bloody increase in murders and kidnappings because of the open border. It is difficult to take serious anyone who will look at the very unpleasant consequences of their approach and just smile and say, "So what. I just want to do things my way regardless of the consequences to anyone." Some political opinions are just too absurd for serious consideration. The open borders opinion is wide spread and patently absurd.

I think supporters of a traditional border are missing out by not making public safety the center of the discussion. I know that there are limits to how much control the safe border side has over what is reported by the MSM. And the safe borders faction has no one natural leader. But I do not see how discussion about the history of borders and the nation state move things forward very far.

Millionaire Tries to Stand Up for Poor Folk

Funny how Kennedy compares the new Arizona law to slavery when his position on the issue ensures that millions will continue to work in slavery-like conditions for less than a living wage.

Who Woulda Thunk? Our Southern Border Connects Not Just with Mexico But with the Whole World

I posted this clip last week but the issue it raises, though important for our national security, remains absent from the public discourse.

I guess it is a tough concept to understand and apply. But if there is anyone, anywhere in the world whose entry into the US could pose a threat to US citizens, the Obama administration allowing anyone to walk across our border anytime they want opens the whole country up to anyone who would do us harm. It really does not seem that difficult to understand. But apparently one can spend a lifetime reporting the news and commenting on the news and be unable to understand and appreciate this simple concept.

"Send Me Your Terrorists, Your Kidnappers, Your Huddling Masses of Murderers Looking For A More Target Rich Environment"

Would it be going too far to say that Barack Obama has never seen a criminal he wants to slow down or punish? He has enjoyed the friendship of Tony Rezko and Bill Ayers. Way too many of the men he appointed to high office laughed while they broke tax laws and have yet to be called to answer for their crimes. Since we have only his questionable word to rely on we do not know the full extent and nature of his relations with ACORN. We do know that his campaign paid ACORN many hundreds of thousands of dollars to register voters and that an unusually large number of nonexistent people as well as sports stars and cartoon characters were delivered by ACORN as voters. But there has been no sign of a troubled conscience from the president. All this crime and we see not the least sign of embarrassment from the president. A high profile pedophile is at last being brought to justice and many prominent members of the president’s party flood us with an endless chain of weak excuses and fishy rationalizations for releasing the predator back onto society. So part of me is not surprised by Obama’s move to weaken our Southern border. I have to figure that Obama just doesn’t care if there will be increased crime near the border. Since I live less than a hundred miles from Mexico I do care. But I would think more Americans would care since this makes it so much easier for Muslim terrorists to enter the country and make large devastating explosions.
Here are a couple of quotes from a CNS News story about President Obama’s weakening of our border security.

"(CNSNews.com) - Even though the Border Patrol now reports that almost 1,300 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border is not under effective control, and the Department of Justice says that vast stretches of the border are “easily breached,” and the Government Accountability Office has revealed that three persons “linked to terrorism” and 530 aliens from “special interest countries” were intercepted at Border Patrol checkpoints last year, the administration is nonetheless now planning to decrease the number of Border Patrol agents deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border."
………………………………..
"In the May 7 update of its performance review, DHS said the Border Patrol’s goal for fiscal 2009 was to have 815 of the 8,607 miles of border for which the agency is responsible under “effective control.” The review also said the Border Patrol’s goal for fiscal 2010 was to again have 815 miles of border under “effective control,” meaning DHS was not planning to secure a single additional mile of border in the coming year."

Thank You Pelosi, Reid, Boxer and Feinstein For Leaving the Borders Wide Open

Because of the unwillingness of congress to protect our borders we have increasing violence and lawlessness spreading from south of the border into the US. IL recently read a story vast sums of money and drug trade related violence in Houston, Texas. Now there is this story in USAToday about massive growth of drug trade and violence in Atlanta, Georgia. Below are some quotations from that story.

Atlanta has not seen a fraction of the violence that engulfs much of northern Mexico, but law enforcement officials are increasingly concerned about the cartels' expanding operations here.
"The same folks who are rolling heads in the streets of Ciudad Juárez" — El Paso's Mexican neighbor — "are operating in Atlanta. Here, they are just better behaved," says Jack Killorin, who heads the Office of National Drug Control Policy's federal task force in Atlanta.
The same regional features that appeal to legitimate corporate operations — access to transportation systems and proximity to major U.S. cities — have lured the cartels, Atlanta U.S. Attorney David Nahmias says.

====================

Nahmias calls northeast suburban Gwinnett County, about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta, the "epicenter" of the region's drug activity.
Gwinnett's Hispanic population surged from 8,470 in 1990 to 64,137 in 2000, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. Now, 17% of the county's 776,000 people are Hispanic.
"You see Mexican drug-trafficking operations deploying representatives to hide within these communities in plain sight," Benson says. "They were attempting to blend into the same communities as those who were hard-working, law-abiding people."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"We've got direct linkages between cartel representatives who take their orders from cartel leadership in Mexico," Benson says.
From the border, shipments of marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin are routed over land to Atlanta for storage in a network of stash houses. They are then moved to distribution operations in the Carolinas, Tennessee, the Mid-Atlantic, New York and New England.
Cash is generally moved over the same routes back to the Atlanta area, where balance sheets are reconciled. The bundles of money are turned over to transportation units for bulk shipments back to Mexico, Benson says.

Illegal Aliens and Crime

I came across this old post on a site called Flanders Fields. As a citizen of California I find it very much worth reposting in toto.

Victims Per Illegal Alien

"How Many Victims Per Illegal Alien?
By Walter Moore, Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, http://waltermooreformayor.com/
September 8, 2008

Tonight, I was going to start reading "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," because I love the title.

But then I spotted an even more alluring title: "The Recidivism Patterns of Previously Deported Aliens Released From A Local Jail."

So I shelled out $20, digitally, to buy a copy of this scholarly study at Crime & Delinquency OnlineFirst.

It's not a laugh riot, but four facts in it jumped off the page at me:

1. More crimes per illegal alien, or more illegal aliens?
Previous studies, the authors reported, found that 27% of all inmates in federal prisons were criminal aliens, while supposedly just 4% of America's population consisted of illegal aliens (i.e., 12 million out of 300 million).

Think about that disparity: 27% vs. 4%. If both numbers are right, then illegal aliens commit a disproportionate number of crimes: 4% of the population commits 27% of the crimes.

Alternatively, and more plausibly, the 4% figure grossly underestimates the number of illegal aliens in the country. But if illegal aliens constitute 27% of the U.S. population, that means there would be about 81 million of them (i.e., 27% x 300 million people).

So I'm thinking both propositions are probably true: illegal aliens commit a disproportionate amount of crime, and they make up much more than 4% of the population.

2. "We're Number One" -- but not in a good way.
California's prisons hold 40% of all the illegal aliens who are in all state prisons throughout America. The L.A. County jail holds 13% of all illegal aliens in all jails in the U.S. Hence, we are "Ground Zero" for illegal alien criminals. That's probably why, when it comes to illegal aliens, many American citizens in other states still don't "get it;" the problem is worse here than anywhere else.

3. Rampant recidivism: 73% of the previously deported criminal illegal aliens released from the L.A. County Jail were re-arrested at least once within one year.
And get this: 28% of the previously deported criminal aliens released from jail got arrested three or more times within a year after their release. And 32% of the criminal aliens who had not been previously deported were also re-arrested within a year. How many victims could we protect by letting the LAPD investigate and arrest these criminals for immigration violations, rather than waiting to catch them committing murders or selling drugs?

4. Mexico gave us 86% of the previously deported criminal illegal aliens released from the L.A. County Jail.So the next time someone calls you a "racist" for referring to Mexico, as opposed to, say, Norway, as the source of most illegal aliens, just lay that 86% reality on him. You can even quote the study itself: "Race and ethnicity variables were available in the data but not included due to a lack of variation in the sample."

Don't bother trying to explain that "Mexico" is not a race, and neither is illegal conduct. Come to think of it, don't bother explaining any of this, because people who call you "racist" are not sincere; they just hope to intimidate you into silence.

Thank Your Senator for Open Borders and the Reign of Terror It 's Bringing

And to sweeten the deal the dinosaur media is virtually ignoring this foreign run crime wave in our country. I guess some people won't know it's happening until their hand is being cut off.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano Angry That Agents Obey The Law

The post below is from Reflections From A Murky Pond. It is copied and pasted complete.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was angered by the fact that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents this week conducted their first work-site raid since President Barack Obama took office.

She angry because arresting illegal immigrants violated her and President Obama’s policies regarding immigration.

Sean Smith, a spokesman at Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., said that Napolitano is demanding answers. Napolitano herself said, “I want to get to the bottom of this” and is planning on conducting an investigation of the February 24th raid.

Strange, the last time I looked into it enforcing US immigration policies and arresting and deporting illegal immigrants was the sworn duty of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. Of course I erroneously believed that it was the sworn duty of the Homeland Security Secretary to support them in those efforts.

So… the person in charge of US Homeland Security and therefor U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regards arresting 28 illegal immigrants at Yamato Engine Specialists factory in Bellingham, Wa. as a violation of the policies of the new federal government? This is not something that any American should feel the least bit comfortable about.

Sadly it seems that National Council of La Raza - the political arm of MEChA - has more to be happy about than just their recent $473,000 “not-an-earmark” in the Stimulus Act. They’ve apparently got the sympathy of the Homeland Security Secretary as well.

Dear Rudy

I really like Rudy and was looking forward to voting for him. I still love him but doubt that I could ever vote for him. The reason: I no longer feel he is serious about national security. Nothing he says or does makes for real security unless he will secure our borders. If he can't see this I can't take him seriously. Unless he makes this his policy and is VERY vocal about it, I will write in Bullwinkle before I will vote for someone who is a semi surrender monkey. To allow anyone to walk in anytime they want and do whatever they please is not acceptable at this point in our history. As near as I can tell Rudy is willing to give up America to just about anyone. The man needs to rethink this stand.
