Much to Algore's Surprise Polar Ice Unchanged Since 1979

Main casualty of global warming has been the credibility of the Nobel committee.

"Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.

"Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.

"The data is being reported by the University of Illinois's Arctic Climate Research Center, and is derived from satellite observations of the Northern and Southern hemisphere polar regions.

"Each year, millions of square kilometers of sea ice melt and refreeze. However, the mean ice anomaly -- defined as the seasonally-adjusted difference between the current value and the average from 1979-2000, varies much more slowly. That anomaly now stands at just under zero, a value identical to one recorded at the end of 1979, the year satellite record-keeping began."

I think Algore needs to step off the global warming bandwagon since his following is shrinking to uninformed lefties. Maybe Al can still get in on that Yellowstone volcano scare story.

This is part of Thom Hartmann's show in which he tries to prove that all of the recent cold weather is caused by global warming. His argument is meaningless until he can prove that there is as significant an amount of thawing as he claims there is. I would think there would be a noticeable raise of sea level if what he says is true. I live about 4 blocks from the Pacific Ocean. So I will go down sometime in the next few days and check. But the fact that he offers no evidence that thawing is vastly beyond what is needed to maintain homeostasis makes it unwise to believe him.

Hopefully Al Gore will Teach This Overly Reasonable Man A Lesson

He seems like a reasonable well informed bloke. But I've gotten too accustomed to threats and lots of dire predictions in my science. And I quickly tire of his measured and thoughtful, 'on the one hand this and on the other hand that' approach. Good old Al Gore doesn't fool around with over thinking these issues: he just comes right out and says his position is settled science and everyone else is lying to us. I like not having to think too much or do any research. I especially respect the way Al Gore never wasted time or money on scientific degrees. No, you've got to respect someone who doesn't waste time on argument or discussion. Al Gore isn't afraid to apply a little muscle to science. Like the guy says people are afraid to lose their jobs if they publicly disagree with Gore. Now there's a guy who is willing to break a few heads just so I don't have to think too much. Maybe someday Al Gore will share the scientific secret that allows him to fly private jets and and drive around in fleets of SUVs without harming the environment. He must have some secret technology because if he engaged in that dangerous behavior while saying what he says in public it would make him just another money grubbing hypocrite and not the great leader of mankind he claims to be.

Algore Wants You to Go to Jail

"If you're a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration," says Algore.
It is important enough for kids to go to jail to help Algore get rich on his sales of carbon offsets but not important enough for Algore to do more than talk. I still don't really know if Algore believes in global warming since he is unwilling to put his own ass on the line. I think there is something questionable, and even icky, about someone who wants others to make the sacrifice of going to jail so he can make large profits.

The temperature of the sky is 1.003 degrees warmer than a hundred and seventeen years ago (a rough approximation). If present trends continue the earth will be a cinder in mere eons. What if present trends do not continue that long, you ask. Shut up with your stupid questions! Those who do not agree with me are flat earth, holy roller planet killers who will be removed from any academic positions and shouted down in public. You have no right to question my computer generated model but you must be ruled by it and your civil rights must bow before it. You big stupid, a man who won the Nobel prize said the debate is over. So, quit debating, already. And why would I need proof? You only need proof before the debate ends. And didn't I tell you that the debate is over. You're really starting to get on my nerves.
What I don't understand is why people who talk so passionately about the horrors of global warming have to travel via SUV and private jet to spread the message. I take this as a pretty sure indication that they don't really believe what they preach. Or do they think their wasteful byproducts don't stink?
