“He was looking for choices that would limit U.S. involvement and provide a way out.”
Just what you’d expect with one man in the room looking to get out and the rest looking to win."
Here’s three options for you, Barry, that are more your speed:
1) Cut and run.
2) Lose quickly.
3) Lose slowly.

I went to the Nashville Tea Party Convention and the one thing that stuck with me, almost more than anything else from all the speeches, was an anecdotal story told by Judson Philips.
I am paraphrasing but he recounted how a few years ago he had met a young man running for the House of Representatives. Judson liked what this man said and what he stood for, cleaning up corruption, conservative values blah, blah, blah, and Judson backed and campaigned for this bright young man.
His candidate won. Judson called him two weeks after he left for Washington and the new Representative told him something like, you just don’t understand, I’m a “rock star” here.
His warning to us, his question, how long does it take DC to corrupt our bright young politicians?…
It can take as little as two weeks.
We are awakened but now we must also be vigilant.
Oh yeah, I was a moderate, swing voter and have seen the light. Layers upon layers of bureaucracy, needless, confining and restrictive laws and trillions of wasted tax dollars.

Let’s be really clear:
every single time Odonnell or duffy or anyone is asked about thier past, just respond:
“president obama started his campaign in the house of a pentagon bomber (and lied about his affiliations!); sat in a pew for 20 years hearing racist, anti-semitic, and anti-american damnations; was raised by a communist thug frank marshall davis; was an actual socialist in his 20s in california (the new party); won his first election based on fraudulent handwriting analyses; did cocaine (apparently with a nameless dealer?).
I’ll tell you as much about my past as you’ve asked about Barack’s.
CASE CLOSED AND STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Doctor Zero: Once Again All Net
A thing of beauty over at Hot Air.com as Doctor Zero sums up what is wrong in Washington. Only reading the whole thing does it justice. It is short and to the point in a marvelous feat to focus and clarity. I will give two excerpts but do not deny yourself the pleasure of the whole thing.
"Political control is what’s killing us. It is expressed in hundreds of ways: high tax rates with carefully tailored exceptions, massive bailouts, laws rigged to favor government-controlled industries, restrictions on resource development, and a vast poppy field of subsidies and penalties. The Democrats have added thousands of pages of fabulously expensive legislation since Obama took office. Two messages echo through those pages: Obey and be rewarded. Resist and be punished.
"This is not appropriate behavior for a government that was meant to live in awe of the people’s boundless freedom, and work carefully with limited powers to accomplish its sworn duties. Even the most apolitical citizen can now see that it’s also disastrous behavior.
"Who are the President and his congressional allies, to lecture us on what products to buy, or investments to make? Who are they to demand even more of our wealth to fund their next round of grand designs? Their failure is obvious and complete. I don’t believe any group of brilliant central planners can legislate prosperity… but if such a group exists, it sure as hell isn’t this bunch."
**************************
"Economic strength comes from innovation, which is produced by intense pressure. Businesses seek creative ways to increase their revenue, and transcend the burden of their expenses. The super-State feels no such pressures, so it does not innovate. It believes it can siphon limitless revenue from its subjects, and defer the cost of its failures forever… so it spends extravagantly, and continues wasteful programs until the voters force it to stop, by holding sharpened ballots to its throat. Only rarely can the voters muster that level of pressure.
"No group of people can ever force itself to prosper. Substituting the limited vision of a few, for the innovation and risk-taking of many, will always impose a steep price. We speak approvingly of “thinking outside the box.” Washington makes boxes."

"Seen from the inside, the administration is an astonishing success," says E.J. Dionne of the beleaguered regime of his president. "Inside of what?" one is tempted to ask, but by some lights, it's true.
"President Obama has pushed through a whole lot of bills, and people hate all of them, a historic result accomplished by no other president. Of course, no other has tried.
""It's a losing-by-winning dynamic," says Michael Goodwin, as most presidents suffer when their agenda is stifled. He is the first to be in really deep trouble because his agenda has passed.
"Inside the bubble (the bunker? the madhouse?), the celebration, and the confusion, go on."

The nation demands the impossible: quick, painless solutions to long-term, structural problems. While they’re running for office, politicians of both parties encourage this kind of magical thinking.
That’s a lie right there. Only the dems do this. They promise that they can cut taxes, increase spending, reduce the deficit and give you free healthcare.
Republicans generally don’t promise these things. I love how liberals will talk about the “hard choices” of “reforming an unsustainable system of entitlements” and blaming the dumb electorate on not wanting to do so – when it is the dems who promise to “protect” those entitlement programs from the big-bad republicans every election.
Where’s Eugene then? When does he side with republicans who consistently talk about reforming SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare and the like? He is supporting the dems who are promising easy answers to hard problems.
Talk about projection and intellectual dishonesty.

“…how they just assumed it would behave like previous recessions”
Ceteris paribus. That’s Latin for: “we are all morons.”
The economy just sort of magically produces wealth, and nothing can ever change that.
So why let all those “greedy” business owners “steal” all the “free” profit the economy magically generates to buy yachts to waterski behind? Of course nothing but good things can happen when the “generous” government confiscates that extra money and “invests” it in ways that their minds (pristinely unpolluted by knowledge of the evil business world) know – just know – will benefit society.
What could possibly go wrong?
