“If It Is About the Safety and the Lives of My Men I Will Go Through Hell With A Gasoline Can”

.

h/t: Hot Air.com

Below are two excellent reader's comments from Hot Air on this video.

As a community organizer, Obama once told a Chicago alderman that he would only give him a small kickback in return for the alderman’s help with a land deal. The alderman wanted twice as much but Obama stayed strong.
The land deal was done.
Only a small kickback was given by Obama.
Obama got himself a nice piece of property.

Beware the Kleinwock, my valiant one!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Obgolf bird, and shun
The frumious alinskysnatch!
Colonel West took his vorpal sword in hand
Long time the destructxome foe he sought
So rested he by an old palm tree
And stood awhile in thought
And as in thought he stood
The Kleinwock seeking an election and the country to put to flame
Came whiffling through the slimy swamp
And burbled lying smears as it came!
One, two! Red, White and Blue!
The Colonel’s vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left the Kleinwock dead, and with its head
He went gallantphing back
And will thou also defeat the Obgolf bird?
Call me to arms, my beamish knight!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
With you leading this epic fight!

Comments of the Day

These are all from a thread at Hot Air about how the establishment in academia feels threatened by Glenn Beck. How dare someone lacking a PHd talk about history?

FIRST
As I have hammered upon… This is the key to the future. In the ancient ’70s I often crossed verbal swords with a Stalinist “student” we called Eric the Red (because his name was Eric, he had long red hair, and he was a Communist – we were very clever back then.)

Although I suspected he was a sociopath to some degree, he seemed to enjoy our conversations – and when he was backed into a logical corner would always smile and put forth the same rejoinder:

“It is mute. In 20 years we will control the universities. We will, therefore, control the little jelly minds of those going into the press, entertainment, politics and schools. We win.”

Until the universities are returned to a more neutral status, there will be new legions of little left-bots being turned out by the thousands.

NEXT
I dig Beck’s history lessons.

He said he has Ph.D on staff who helped research the horrors of communism, and she told him she was outraged she hadn’t learned any of the information when she was a student.

THIRD
We moderns have been lied to about “the Enlightenment.”

It was absolutely not a broadening of thinking, it was a sometimes violent constriction of the rules of acceptable thought. It was a purge of the legitimate achievements of the civilization that came before it.

Real intellectuals today are sifting through the ruins of pre-enlightenment thought and resourcing what is good. The frauds — i.e., most of academia — are obsessed with passing along the crap that was forced down their throats by very bad men.

As to the Enlightenment, it’s no accident that the mystics construed the source of evil in the world as Lucifer, whose english translation from the latin is basically “enlightener”, or light bringer.

Beware Lucifer.

Obama Knew Yemen Is Unstable and Full of Terrorists But Planned To Send Almost A Hundred Hardened Terrorists There Anyway

Is Obama's goal to strengthen and preserve Al Queda? It seems he has to be dragged kicking and screaming to do anything helpful to the US of A.
Below is a frightening quote from Ed Morrissey at Hot Air.com.
"It seems that everyone knew that Yemen has a big, big problem with al-Qaeda, but for some reason, Obama thought dumping almost a hundred hardened terrorists into Yemen would … what? Improve the situation? Make the Yemeni AQ networks suddenly love America? The question isn’t so much the reversal — which is just common sense after the attack and its pedigree became known — but why anyone thought releasing the 95 Yemeni detainees in Gitmo back into a near-failed state was a laudatory goal at all.

"Gerstein’s catch points out something else interesting about the Obama administration’s approach to this, too. Obama ran on rhetoric that promised the most open and transparent administration in history. Yet here Obama is, leaking the status of the Yemeni detainees not once but twice in two weeks rather than openly discussing their release and then reversing the decision with explanations of both decisions open and public. It seems that Obama does not have the courage of his promises of openness, or even the courage to leak these decisions on days when people read newspapers and watch TV."
If you hire someone without experience you are also hiring their learning curve. This includes opening yourself up to all the possibilities of drugged murders with guns and bombs. Obama is out of his depth. And it's difficult to say when or if Obama will ever figure out how ill equipped he is. And here is more from Bill Kristol.

Ed Morrissey Has A Way with Words

This from Hot Air.com today:
"When Nancy Pelosi pushed Porkulus through on a party-line vote in the House and Harry Reid could only get three Republicans in the Senate, the GOP opposed the bill because it wouldn’t stimulate a nymphomaniac stripper on a Friday night."

"How This Ex-Liberal Found Fortitude and Her Way Home" The Anita MonCrief Story

It is in the Green Room at Hot Air. Anita MonCrief, the courageous woman who has been working to expose the criminal activity she saw from within ACORN, shares some of her back ground and her experiences growing comfortable with the wild mobs of tea partiers. I'm including a long quote but the whole piece deserves reading. And please stop by and thank Anita for so resolutely taking a stand.

"Friends who are still radicals rail at me for loving a country that enslaved us, and I tell them I don’t. I love a country that had the guts to stand up time and time again and right a wrong. A country that is not afraid to pick itself up and start again.

"The media, think tanks and leftist organizations paint the right as hate mongers and I believed it for a number of years. Going to events like the Defending the American Dream Summit this past weekend continues to enlighten me. I find warm, regular people who have traveled and taken time off to be there. It was not a gathering of paid hacks, or reporters patting themselves on the back for Van Jones. Moms, dads, nurses, doctors, bloggers and people from all over America, discussed the state of our country and their fears for the world their children would be inheriting.

"Comparing it to a leftist conference I went to in 2007 I was amazed at how helpful and open the staff and sponsors were. No egos here. Tim Phillips went out of his way to accommodate those of us who ended up in the overflow room after an expected surge of attendees. The next day, I spoke on a panel and was overwhelmed by the support in the room. Conservatives seemed to be more accepting of differences and willing to listen and respond to others without attacking or belittling them.

"Putting political ideology aside for a moment, I will tell anyone that there has been a certain amount of inner peace that I have never had before and I have noticed more harmony in my family. For the first time in my adult life I can honestly say that I am not at war with myself or the world. I never knew that by changing my political beliefs that I would find my faith, change the course of my life and end a self destructive pattern of victimhood."

Congressional Approval Rating at 9%

“I have come to the conclusion that one useless man is called a disgrace; that two are called a law firm, and that three or more become a Congress! And by God, I have had this Congress!”

-John Adams, 1776

And the Weasels Crawled Out of the Obama's Mouth

This is from Huffpo via JustOneMinute (http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2008/03/let-me-be-sure.html) where I was sent from one of my favorite sites, Hot Air.
"The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments."
He must have taken Weasel Words 101 from Bill Clinton. Basically he seems to be saying that while sitting in that spot or while standing in that other spot he never heard those words. This leaves open myriad other times and places which he apparently doesn't want to talk about.
And this qualifies as New Politics how?

How I Spend My Mornings

It has now been nearly two years since I last worked. I had worked a Saturday night shift and was scheduled to work the Sunday night shift. But, when I woke up in the afternoon, I couldn’t walk. I was on crutches for a couple of months because I had lost most of the sensation and muscle control in my legs. Then I slowly lost muscle control in my hands. It was made more frightening because I didn’t know what was causing my problem. My doctor didn’t have a clue and he sent me to a neurologist. The first two times the neurologist saw me he didn’t know the cause of the problem. But he did some test and finally did an MRI and we found out what was going on. A small part of the problem was peripheral neuropathy caused by my diabetes. But the major problem was a vertebra that was pressing on my spinal cord and also pressing on some of the nerves exiting the spinal cord in the area.
So I started physical therapy and in a few weeks I was walking with only a cane though I was more unbalanced on my feet than I have ever been. During this time I fell frequently. And I had to undergo occupational therapy because of the loss of function in my hands. The OT helped but it is only recently that the strength and coordination in my hands has increased enough for me to open a two litre soda bottle using only my hands alone without my vise grips. I still walk unsteadily but seldom fall down anymore.
And I really like not working. I enjoy spending time on the internet. I enjoy reading more. Unfortunately I am watching more television than I ever have. Rarely PBS will have a good show (some might find this hard to believe but I have even seen PBS go an hour without comparing Bush to Hitler - - - ever notice that funny little smile of Bill Moyers’ when someone goes on a mindless rant about Bush and Cheney - - it’s kind of like the look you see on well behaved men at a strip club.) There is probably more worth watching on the History Channel and A & E. But I waste too much time on Monk and House and Deadwood and Rome and such.
I recently read that retired people tend to fall into a strict routine and I have seen this in myself over these two years. I like to get up around four or five am, pray and then make some coffee (about two litres of sweetened cafĂ© au lait). Then I read a Psalm and then meditate for about fifteen minutes. Then straight to the computer. First, I go over the front page of the BBC website. Then look over every headline on Drudge. Then I go to Hot Air.com I return to Hot Air ten to fifteen times throughout the day. And recently I check out Ezra Levant’s site daily (http://ezralevant.com/). All of this often takes till nine or ten am. Then I take a nap. Followed by reading and watching shows I’ve tivo’d.
