To the degree that these expensive and opulent eggs grew to be a normal part of the lives of the Romanovs, the Romanovs were growing to be too expensive a decoration for the Russian people. Just as the eggs were conspicuously too refined and too expensive so were the Romanovs and the Medieval political system that supported them.
