Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's Immigration Nostrums

.

h/t: NewsBusters

When the Simpson-Mazzoli Act of 1986 gave amnesty and citizenship to many who had entered the US illegally and had worked here illegally it was argued that passing such a law would only cause much more illegal immigration. There have since been tens of millions who have entered the country illegally. When foreigners see that our government has lost respect for our laws, many feel that there is no reason for them to treat the law with any respect. Villaraigosa's inability to see one of the major lessons of Simpson-Mazzoli can only mean that he does not mind if he provides motivation and encouragement for tens of millions more crossing our border illegally. And quite possibly he is more concerned with increasing the ranks of the Democrat Party rather than what is best for all Americans. Thankfully the majority of Americans do not agree with this divisive and overly partisan mayor.
