Congressional Hubris

There is no honor among thieves.
Rangel lied and stole until Hell wouldn't haven't anymore. It was so bad that Pelosi's ethics committee couldn't even ignore it. The Democrats' solution? Stand up on the House floor and tell him he broke the rules and then give him a standing ovation. Gee, that would be very helpful if Rangel breaking the rules were not already common knowledge.
But I guess every member of congress is hoping they'll also get a pass and a standing O when they get caught.

Runner Up Comment of the Day

Interesting analysis, Ed. Too bad it’s wrong.
The soon-to-be ex-Congresscrooks didn’t lose because of Osama Obama. They lost because they bought into his act, hook, line and sinker. They supported him all the way, cheered for his every move, approved his nominees — including the Criminal General, Eric Shabazz Holder — and passed his destructive legislation.
Heck, if anything, they didn’t think he went far enough. They would have lined up like good little soldiers for even worse legislation. They would have passed Bomber Bill Ayers onto the Supreme Court, if only the Traitor-in-Chief had given them the chance.
Like good little lefties, they now blame the Mohammedan Mouthpiece for their own failed policies. In the meantime, they’re getting ready to push through amnesty and other unconstitutional laws before they are finally put out to pasture with their fat pensions and access to cushy government (or lobbying) jobs.
If they all had been reelected, they’d still be kissing Osama Obama’s boots, and begging him to turn the nation into even more of a totalitarian third-world state.

Emanuel Cleaver Denies Doing Anything to Hype the 'Spitting Incident': Is There Any Reason to Believe Him?

***

h/t: HotAir

You have to wonder why a man who joined in a march through the middle of a hostile crowd would be suddenly as shy as he now claims to be. The purpose of the march was plainly to precipitate such incidents for PR purposes. But he is now claiming to be just a coy, quiet man? Puh-lese! Why did the capitol police become involved if Congressman Cleaver didn't want them to? I do believe that he became quieter once he realized that the trumped up case could not stick. But after you've gone down into the muck to try to create problems for your political opponents don't think I'll fall for the oh so innocent, above it all act.

GOPAC CHAIR: IF HEALTH BILL IS SO GOOD, WHY ALL THE EXEMPTIONS?

***********************************************************

h/t: Breitbart TV
Congress and the president, who are the strongest supporters of this bill in its present form, have made sure that they and their families will not be governed by it. They might have an easier time convincing me that their legislation is beneficial if they had not exempted themselves from it. And as time goes by more and more of their special friends are gaining prior relief from this law. Will we end up with an underclass of enemies of the central government who will share the sacrifice of paying for the Cadillac lifestyle of the ruling class? Will serfdom for many become necessary to maintain an acceptable standard of living for a privileged few? The Democrats have already turned many of the neighborhoods of their dependable constituencies (e. g., blacks, Hispanics) into zones of devastation, poverty and chronic violence. Does this fate await everyone who is not a government employee, SEIU member or rank and file auto union plutocrat?

Finest Links in All of Christendom

Pundit and Pundette has a piece about Barbara Boxer’s racist attack on Harry Alford. Boxer is a sad case. Her lefty mentality has built a confining little box in her head for blacks and she is determined to not let them out of that box. She just cannot allow blacks to be just people like the rest of us. I often find it especially funny when these ideologues with their boxy little heads start calling others racists because they won’t build racist boxes in their heads and imprison blacks in them. P & P also has a piece about Rush's reaction to a recent speech on health care by Obama. Basically Rush says that every last word that Obama utters on the subject is a lie. But what are you going to say? Why would being elected president suddenly and inexplicably make the man honest? My favorite recent thing at P & P is the appearance of my favorite Canadian: Diana Krall. Yes, I think I like her even more than Mark Steyn.
And So It Goes In Shreveport has a post about tens of millions of people who will lose their private insurance if ObamaCare is passed. Remember how it was promised that ObamaCare’s public option would not would not give free health care to anyone who could somehow get their feet on American soil? Well, the Democrats in the House Ways and Means Committee have made a lie out of that. How can costs be lowered if ANYONE who can cross our intentionally porous borders has to be covered? How many tens of trillions of dollars might that end up costing? Why even listen to what any Democrat has to say about health care when they will probably say the opposite tomorrow next week? You cannot engage in rational discourse with inveterate liars.
Jo-Joe Politico has a post about Obama ordering Israel to stop a private company from building in Jerusalem. Please read the whole thing. I feel compelled to quote a few lines: “In what realm of imagination does President BO get off demanding that Israel cease construction on anything?
“How did he get jurisdiction over ANY foreign country, let alone Israel?
“ . . . Megalomania does not even come close to describing this guy's sense of self and his willingness to be in complete control of the universe.
“Watch it, boys and girls.
“He really is dangerous.
“Please wake up.
“This is no dream. Your personal future is at stake.”
Then there is Sonya Sotomayor and the confirmation process all of which Joe deftly skewers. Joe recontextualizes the hearing to put the lies and the humor in clearer light. Then Joe’s account of the hearings that he feels was inaccurately reported by the MSM.

Republican for Cap and Trade Not Feeling Any Love at Home **And All New LEGISLATIVE PLACEHOLDERS

This is Mike Castle of Delaware. He claims to have read 300 pages before the vote. But the bill is 1200 pages long. The man appears to have no shame about his dereliction of duty. I know I'm a dreamer but isn't this something the House Ethics Committee should have to deal with?

It gets worse. There is a section that basically says, 'After the bill is passed we will add to it and stick the new stuff here.' Isn't that the part of the Venn diagram where extra-constitutional and unconstitutional overlap? Michelle Malkin covers covers this obamination that the rats in congress are calling a 'placeholder.' Be sure to read MM. This is another area for my fantasy Ethics Committee to deal with.
He never explained why he voted for the bill.
I would compliment him for his courage if I thought this was more than a flubbed PR stunt. I don't think he cares what his constitutients think. I suspect he thinks the voters have no real power over him. To speak somewhat honestly to people you feel are beneath your dignity to mix with is not courageous. It's a stunt.

This Congressman Says Government Properly Administered Can Change My Heart

There’s the silly listing of all the perversions to make this clip entertaining. But watch to the end. This congressman is trying to sell the idea that government can, by passing legislation, eradicate hate crimes and hate. Yes, the Church of the All Holy Government will change your heart. Not today, but soon if you will only obey your Congressional Shepherd in all things. Please don’t tell Janet, the enforcer, Napolitano, but I do not now nor will I ever believe in the powers of the great congressman’s golden calf.

Congress Is Dirtier Than I Thought

The congressional gym has been has recently undergone even more disinfecting than usual. Here's a quote from Politico, "A member of the House gym has been diagnosed with MRSA — a much-feared, antibiotic-resistant bacteria — and the facility has been scrubbed to eliminate the possibility that anyone will become infected."
If you have to get close to a congress person don't let them sneeze or cough on you. But it would probably be best to forego any contact until we discover the true extent of the problem. And considering their penchant for secrecy it might be a long time before we get close to the truth. But, as usual. you can't trust much of what these crooks have to say.
