BACHMANN: SENATE TAX BILL UNCONSTITUTIONAL
Funny but true: she seems very serious about her intention to give congressmen classes on the constitution.

Comment Of the Day
.
Who cares if what I’ve written may show my tedancies toward a form of government that historically has been reproved time and again by people who favor an individuals right of liberty? Confirm me to the Supreme Court, I promise not sting you because our futures depend on the decisions we make tomorrow, not the one you’re making today.
The Scorpion and the Frog
The story is about a scorpion asking a frog to carry him across a river. The frog is afraid of being stung, but the scorpion reassures him that if it stung the frog, the frog would sink and the scorpion would drown as well. The frog then agrees; nevertheless, in mid-river, the scorpion stings him, dooming the two of them. When asked why, the scorpion explains, “I’m a scorpion; it’s my nature.”

Greta Examines Health Care Sausage Making and Ben Nelson Plays Dumb

This link is to a thirty minute long interview of Sen. Ben Nelson conducted by Greta Van Susteren. It can be mind numbing at times. As Greta tries to find out exactly what happened, the closer she comes to anything that might be embarrassing or illegal the dumber Nelson acts. I came away feeling that Nelson had only a cursory knowledge of what was in the bill he voted for. He has a very high opinion of himself and his own motives and will not speak ill of another Democrat. He claims that his main concern was to keep the federal government from taking over the nation's health care system.
Nelson says he was a little concerned that all states will be saddled with an enormous unfunded mandate and that he was acting to keep that from happening. But he will admit that he did not bring that about. In the end he gave Harry Reid his vote and Nebraska was given $100 million dollars but nothing was done for any other states. Oh, and also the DNC spent $500,000 on political ads for Nelson which ran in Nebraska even though he is not up for reelection again until 2012.
As Greta said, "It does look funny." And he had no answer to that. About ten minutes before that, as Greta slowly circled her quarry and kept poking at it, Nelson became more and more fidgety. It is really too bad about the fidgeting and on and off dumb act because he claims total innocense and rather high motives yet he acts like a guilty person: go figure.
I've never watched Greta much. But I had to admire her ability to have someone lie to her face and not take it at all personally. She just remaimed focused on getting the story as clearly as she could from Nelson. But there just isn't much story to be had from the senator. He was in these meetings but he sure does not know much of what happened and will not name any one else who participated besides Reid. He doesn't know much about the health care bill that he voted for. He claims to not know who wrote the bill. He does know and frequently reminds us that he had only the highest of motives. But he claims that much of the good he tried so hard to accomplish could not be included in the bill because there were deadlines that had to be met. He does admit that the deadlines were arbitrary. And he doesn't know or will not share exact knowledge of who created these deadlines. Which is too bad since there was so much good he wanted to do for all Americans if only he had not been kept from acting by arbitrary deadlines created and enforced by showdowy persons or forces. Oh well, at least this great and patriotic American got the $100 million for Nebraska and $500,000 for his own campaign chest.

Just to Remind Californians, as the Election Approaches, Why We Need to Replace Boxer with Someone We Can Be Proud Of
***
On the net I have frequently seen Boxer described as the stupidest member of the Senate. I guess that is a consequence of her speaking her mind in public.
Boxer's office staff are often impolite to voters expression opinions at variance with the senator's. Her unwillingness to listen to and consider the concerns of all the voters in the state is enough reason to fire her. It is unfortunate that she will leave with a golden parachute. But we might be able to convince future senates to bring some sanity to that issue. Maybe you don't muzzle the oxen that tread the grain but there is no need to stuff them like the pigs they have been.

Senator Loses Custody of Children Because of Widespread Ethical Lapses in the Chamber
****************************************************
Pocomoke City, MD – In a unusual turn of events a sitting US senator was denied custody of his own children in a long running divorce battle today. Junior Maryland Senator Ronnie Joe Ghibelline is to be allowed contact with his children only under the supervision and in the presence of his former wife. Senator Ghibelline’s attorney stated that, “It is ridiculous that someone as responsible as a sitting US senator should receive treatment similar to what would be appropriate for a criminal.”
Lydia Ghibelline’s attorney, Floyd Matusaki praised the judge’s independence and courage in doing what is best for the children. Early on in the battle Ms. Ghibelline had been quoted as saying, “A parent is especially responsible for the moral guidance and development of her children. There is no way that a member of the present congress can be expected to provide anything but a bad example to his children. For the sake of their futures I have to exercise some oversight over my children’s interactions with their father. I became especially concerned as more and more members of Congress not only sell their votes but publically brag about how much they receive for their moral failure. Also my husband has been known to spend time in the company of George Clooney. Now Mr. Clooney has been very successful for an Irishman but some of his values are not what I want for my kids. The fact that he is so prone to follow fads rather than having an inner set of core values makes him just the kind of person I would never want my children to emulate.”
The unusual and often entertaining nature of the trial has left many locals curious as to why it has received absolutely no coverage from network news programs and large daily newspapers. Locals have grown tired of the frequent observation by members of the Worcester County Republican committee that the story would get plenty of coverage if the senator was a Republican.
On the first day of the trial the judge, Marvin Krepkie, cautioned the father, Senator Ghibelline to only speak when spoken to. The senator replied, “Why don’t you go piss up a rope?” This had lead to the senator being sentenced to 24 hours in jail for contempt of court. Senator Ghibelline spent only two hours in jail before Harry Reid scheduled an evening vote on a hastily written bill to ensure that at least 18% of all Post-it notes used in federal offices must come from minority owned businesses. US Constitutional provisions required the release from jail of the senator so that he could vote on the legislation. The next day the judge expressed mild outrage that his authority had been flouted with what he called “procedural trickery.” Judge Krepkie ordered that the senator spend the following Sunday in jail.
Senator Diane Feinstein of the Senate Ethics Committee was a frequent target of Lydia Ghibelline’s legal team. It was noted more than once that Senator Feinstein had grown from mere millionaire to multimillionaire with major infusions of federal money by means of a subcommittee that she was chairman of giving enormous no bid contracts to one of Feinstein’s husband’s companies. Floyd Matusaki had said, “This bald and immoral transfer of cash from the taxpayers into Diane Feinstein’s pocket that was personally carried out by the Senator herself was a slap in the face of American citizens. And the senate’s contempt for basic ethics, fair play and the voters was seriously exacerbated by this blatantly unethical woman being put on the body’s so called ethics committee. This was the Senate spitting in the face of real ethics. By allowing the original crime and then putting the criminal on the committee that was supposedly designed to identify and punish such behavior, the Senate has made a defining statement about their stand on ethics. They will do whatever they can to ignore or escape ethics. Mrs. Ghibelline is against such behavior in those who lead us. She can do little to change this beyond voting responsibly and being as politically active as she can. But my client has a vital interest in protecting her children from anything that might influence her children into becoming this selfish and predatory. She feels that motherhood gives her a sacred duty to do everything she can to give her charges proper ethical guidance and understanding. She has been unable to convince her ex-husband to take a public stand against the forces slowly destroying Washington, DC. He has refused to do so, Mrs. Ghibelline has accepted that but still wants her husband to teach his own children why this behavior is wrong. Since he will not comply with this simple request that my client feels is a fair compromise, she feels she cannot allow Senator Ronnie Joe Ghibelline unmonitored access to these impressionable children. That is all we ask, your Honor. We ask you to help us in spreading the respect for law and order that institutions such as this court depend upon.“

How To Get A Senator Seated When 'Transparency' and Bribery Rule the Nation's Capitol

I just read some good news at HotAir.com. They quote Charlie Rangel as saying that the health care faux reform bill cannot be passed before February. Good news if true. Unfortunately one would not usually go to Rangel for the truth. If you want to be robbed, lied to or cheated, Rangel is your man. But it does make sense that the DemCare bill is a no go. There have been many reports of past supporters in the House splintering over abortion funding and the President’s insistence that some private insurance plans be taxed. And I think few are happy that Florida and North Dakota are getting very special treatment just because their senators are not as stupid as mine.
But my real focus here is something that was brought up in the HA comments thread about what Rangel had said. Someone styling herself ‘katy’ wrote:
“If not there’s always this idea I grabbed from Hillbuzz..
We are telling you now — any Republicans listening — that you need to have a plan in place starting January 20th when Scott Brown pulls off the upset and wins this seat in Massachusetts. You cannot come up with a plan on January 20th. It needs to be ready now, so that on January 20th you hit the ground running. Anyone with in driving distance to Washington needs to go the Capitol and form a mob on the steps demanding the Senate seats Brown immediately on January 20th if Democrats try these tall tactics. It needs to be the most massive march on Washington ever seen — so large it will terrify everyone on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
katy on January 13, 2010 at 11:38 AM”
I went to Hillbuzz to get a url for the quote. With a non-exhaustive search I did not find it. But no matter. The important thing is that what katy said is true and needs circulating. I have a sense that Hillbuzz has some Democrats that are disgruntled with the whole DC Dem machine. Some of them seem to have given some thought to the situation Scott Brown may end up in if the Mass Dems and Harry Reid try to block him from being seated and voting. Below are three paragraphs of quotes from Hillbuzz that have some good ideas about how to deal with the establishment tricks.
“* We really wish Burris had the guts to do this next part, because it would have made the history books — it’s such a good visual. If Harry Reid claims he won’t acknowledge a Senator such as Brown, then Brown needs to rent a U-Haul truck and office furniture and head to the US Capitol. The day after he’s elected, he needs to come to the Capitol with FOX News crews in tow and demand to be allowed into his new office. If Reid refuses, then Brown needs to setup an office for himself on the steps of the United States Capitol. An area rug draped on one of the ornate landings, a wooden desk, book shelves, chairs for him to receive his constituents, potted plants, a copy of the United States Constitution on an easel, a bowl of red, white, and blue M&Ms, etc. Brown needs to then sit at his desk, with nameplate sparkling in the sun reading SENATOR SCOTT BROWN, MASSACHUSETTS on it, taking photographs with all the tourists who come by. We think there’d be lines for hours and hours to see him.
“* Embarrass Reid and the Democrats in the Senate. Humiliate them. We can’t tell you how much we wanted Burris to do the above: an elderly black man shivering in the cold, sitting at a desk out in the open, outside the Capitol, barred from having an actual office. Great Merciful Zeus, the image of that would have been indelible. This won’t have the same resonance with Brown, but it will be effective. Reid will try to bar him from the building, but Brown needs to start acting like a Senator from DAY ONE after the election — should he win and Coakley and her supporters in Massachusetts try to illegally impede him from coming to Washington to do his job.”
......................................................................
“* Republicans at large, and Scott Brown specifically, need to understand they are in the fight of their lives. We’ve made the analogy before and will do it again: a Brown victory in Massachusetts is the equivalent of the fledgling Rebellion taking down the Death Star in Star Wars. Imperial hubris manufactured a battle station the size of a small moon, with the most destructive weapons systems ever designed – so massive was this magic 8-ball of evil that the Emperor himself believed it indestructable, unstoppable. A lot of things supposedly indestructable go up in flames, or sink to the bottom of the ocean with Leonardo DiCaprio on board. The Healthcare Rationing Bill will be one of them if Brown is elected January 19th. Democrats know this. We can’t tell you how many times Rahm Emanuel’s watched Titanic with hunky Secret Service guys in the White House, but we bet it’s a lot. Like over 50. That’s called “cuddle-time”. Scott Brown is the iceberg Democrats fear. He’s the spark to the flame on their giant gas bag hovering over New Jersey (that for once is not Oprah). Hottie McAwesome, as we love to call him (because he is, indeed, the scientific combination of hot + awesome), is the handsome rebel pilot zeroing in on the Death Star with a weapons-grade can of whupass in tow.”

**************** UPDATE ********************
NewsBusters says that the TV networks have given no coverage at all to this election.
"It's a little bizarre that the broadcast networks would cover Ted Kennedy's death and funeral as an enormous story, but ignore the campaign to replace him."
Is the fix in? Or do they just not know what to do so have chosen to wait until they get directions? Are they having so much fun being in the tank that they will never leave?

I said South Dakota above when the state in question was actually Nebraska. Sorry.

One thing that they have been unusually open about is some of the outrights bribery that goes on in Congress. It's bad enough that many parents must despair of teaching honesty to their kids since the Senate will just undercut any attempt they make to instill decent values in their kids.

Another Senate Demo CD
This guy is almost over qualified for the Senate.
A scout from the Democratic caucus says that with the right training this man could become the greatest Senator ever. "Except for his race he is perfect,' concluded the Dem scout, "we'd kill for a Muslim south paw."

I Have A 12 Point Plan for the Drunken Senator

To the tables down at Mory's
To the place where Louie dwells
To the dear old Temple bar we love so well
*******************************************
We're poor little lambs who have lost our way
Baa, baa, baa
We're little black sheep who have gone astray
Baa, baa, baa
Gentleman rankers off on a spree
Doomed from here to eternity
Lord have mercy on such as we
Baa, baa, baa
When I saw Max Baucus’ drunken rant from the Senate chamber I was reminded of what a fool my friend Mory made of himself when he gave a drunken toast at his third daughter’s wedding. Mory was as incoherent, slurring and repetitive as Baucus was. But at least he didn’t call every Republican in the room a coward. But Mory wasn’t brought up in a barn.
Mory has changed greatly in the past few years. His wife and daughter now speak to him. So I got in touch with him to see if there is anything that can be done to help Max Baucus. “Well I have a 12 point plan for the Senator,” Mory told me. “We are at a real disadvantage trying to help him because he is convinced everything is wonderful. He has an endless budget with which to hire scores of people to tell him how great he is and how lucky the country is to have him serving in the Senate. All while Senator Genius’ liver is turning into a useless cirrhotic rock. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t someone in that crowd reminding him that he will be automatically put at the front of the transplant list while the surgeon general goes on Face the Nation and swears that no special favor was granted.” Mory laughed and said, “Even here in Dubuque we’re figuring out the Obama Way.”
“What are the 12 points of the plan?” I asked.
Mory laughed, “That’s AA’s 12 steps. And that’s the rub. We can’t help him until he realizes he needs help. And that day might never come. I bet right this minute Baucus has himself convinced that the whole thing is George Bush’s fault. It’s the Obama Way. And maybe he’s even trying to figure out some way to get CSPAN tossed from the Senate. And if Harry Reid puts a few hundred million dollars in just the right places they might get enough votes to pull that off. I bet Barack ‘Transparency’ Obama has just been looking for chance like this to cover more up.”
“Mory,” I said, “you seem pretty knowledgeable about what’s going on in Washington. Seems to me in the old days you weren’t interested in politics.”
“I never was interested,” replied Mory. “But then my sainted grandma became convinced that ACORN was going to be given the power to kill her whenever they want. I knew she had things mixed up. I started reading and watching so I’d know enough to help quiet her fears. Turns out she wasn’t that far off. I figure ACORN won’t step in until the second wave of the elder genocide.”
I had to laugh. “Mory, I’m very conservative and very cynical but I don’t see that there is any reason to suspect that ACORN will be killing seniors.”
“Well my grandfather, Mory Liebowitz said the same thing about Brown Shirts and Jews. Poor guy ended up with a tattoo on his arm before they turned him to ashes. I say you always go with the smart money. And a quick look at the past year will tell you that the winning money has never been on Obama being competent or honest or acting from principle. It might not be fun to look at but if you won’t look you’re in as much denial as that drunken Senator.”
“It’s too bad the Senator might not get any help,” I said.
“People can help him come to realize he needs help,” Mory said. “If all the people of Montana would vote against him he might realize that his sycophants and Obama have been lying to him. He might even realize he needs to make drastic changes. And, also, then my grandma and I won’t have to worry as much about ACORN.”
******************************************************
******************************************************
Senator Baucus has informed the world that he was not drunk. Hell, someone somewhere might even believe him.
If he ever gets a handle on his problem, and someone asks Max how he first realized he had a problem he might say, "When Rick Sanchez assures the world you were sober at a certain time and place and everyone at MSNBC and HuffPo does not get on the bandwagon you can be sure something untoward is going on."

Drunken Idiot Speaking from the Senate Floor
***************************************************
How can anyone respect a body whose leaders act like this with impunity. Is it any surprise that this kind of behavior is coming from the party that so revered Ted Kennedy? As one commenter noted this is how you act when you control billions of dollars of other peoples' money and you think it's OK to spend it on your bar bill. Hopefully whoever runs against this guy will keep this video on TV around the clock for the last two weeks before the election.
This happened at 7 in the morning. The time of day when only the alcoholics are this drunk.
Could it be that Obama broke his promise to allow CSPAN into the meetings about the health care bill because most of the congressmen were drunk most of the time?

Babs Is Too Incompetent To Be Reelected To The Senate

Barbara Boxer should not be reelected because she has just cost California billions of dollars. Her doctrinaire liberal stance has always bothered me as one of her constituents. When her office even answers mail I send her their answer can be invariably be summed up as, “You’re full of it. We have the right answer. So why don’t you just shut up and let the professionals take care of things.” Basically she has never represented the interests of all the citizens of California but just the far out fringe left.
And she went along robotically with Obama’s health care bill no matter how many strange and weird incarnations it migrated through. Because of her blind obedience my Medicare is going to be gutted. If Babs had only feigned outrage at some aspect of the bill like some of the smarter senators she might have been able leverage her faux principles into some benefit for Californians. But she is too true blue a liberal and too stupid to be successful as a senator. I know that statement is pretty insulting. If Roland Burris, Al Franken and Chris Dodd can do it would seem that almost anybody could do that job. But it had to be said. One because I’m angry at how much money Boxer’s amateurishness is going to cost me. And, two, because her incompetence is going to cost millions of Californians thousands of dollars. I’m not demanding that a U.S. senator should have principles. I’ve been around long enough to know that that ship has sailed. But this dingbat owes it to the people who voted for her to know when it is in their best interests for her to act like a principled person.

Video: Harkin Says It's No Big Thing to Sell His Vote -- That's Just How We Spend Your Money In Washington
Just another liberal idiot showing how the unprincipled behave. He and everyone like him just prove daily how unworthy they are of the public trust. It is galling that if he is not reelected he will make a fortune lobbying his old cronies and mangling the legislative process.

Alan Grayson Flunked Democracy 101

***************************************************************
Alan Grayson flunked Democracy 101. The man is offensive to the American spirit. There is a scene in this YouTube video in which he physically attacks a man for filming him while he walks down a public street. This sums him up: he has no respect for the law and he has no respect for other people. He feels he can do as he pleases and to Hell with the rights of others. And he is loved by the base of the Democrat party: go figure.
I saw this rube as a minor irritant at the far edge of my world until he demanded that the Department of Justice jail a citizen who criticized him on the internet. That was too much for me. I recognize that he thrives on negative attention. But his special kind of sliminess is best combated with massive amounts of sunlight.
He was one of the congressman who balked at listening to input from his constituents at a town hall meeting. He packed the hall so that very few critical voices were allowed in. The same YouTube video documents this anti-democratic stunt by this congressman who apparently is really nuts.
Grayson has no respect for others, feels no obligation to listen to the legitimate concerns of the people he claims to represent, is very willing to physically bully a critic, is not even embarrassed to publically attack freedom of expression. He has flunked Democracy 101 and is not fit to serve in congress.
There is a growth in this anti-democratic spirit in Washington, D. C. Obama has made working around congressional oversight into an art form by taking the rarely used czar position and creating a near endless number of them living and working outside the normal chains of responsibility and oversight that are the life blood of representative government. He has also flunked Democracy 101. As if his flourishing under the Chicago Way were not proof enough.
The Congress has descended into a strange authoritarian underworld by moving the creation of legislation behind closed doors. For years they have been allowing lobbyists and special interests to do the actual writing of the legislation. But to go the extra step of not allowing all members to see the legislation long enough before a vote to make informed choices is proof of their anti-democratic leanings. And hiding the process from the public is unforgiveable. We will be better off if none of this crew of back stabbers ever returns to Washington.
The buying and selling of votes in the Senate cannot be very new but the present lot have lost all shame and do it right out in public. It is as if they they have a deep commitment to causing nausea and widespread distrust in government. Do they think that Americans will find the whole thing so repellant that they will just return to ignoring the government and leave it to the slimebags? I think they might be surprised at what all of this will lead to. The whole Senate has been unwilling to follow its constitutionally mandated duty to properly police itself. They might get a few points for chutzpah but the whole Senate gets a failing grade in Democracy 101. Maybe the whole bunch of them could work for Hugo Chavez or the Iranian secret service since they have the requisite mind set. They sure do not have the attitudes and habits required for democratic government.
